In this book, the author presents a Kierkegaard that goes beyond what we read of him in many textbooks. Aside from a look at Kierkegaard the prophet, the denouncer of the social injustice and of the religious and ecclesiastical hypocrisy, Álvarez treats readers to a detailed examination of the times that formed Kierkegaard’s teachings and philosphies. Eliseo Perez-Alvarez studied theology and philosophy in Mexico City, Atlanta, Chicago and Copenhagen. He has been professor, pastor, editor and coordinator for Hispanic Ministries in Mexico, USA, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. He currently is an Associate Professor of Latino Theology and Mission at the Lutheran Seminary Program in the Southwest in Austin, Texas.

Book Synopsis El pensamiento de Soren Kierkegaard by : Manfred Svensson
Download or read book El pensamiento de Soren Kierkegaard written by Manfred Svensson and published by Editorial CLIE. This book was released on 2015-07-01 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Kierkegaard, Pietism and Holiness by : Christopher B. Barnett
Download or read book Kierkegaard, Pietism and Holiness written by Christopher B. Barnett and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-04-22 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Søren Kierkegaard wrote that Pietism is 'the one and only consequence of Christianity'. Praise of this sort - particularly when coupled with Kierkegaard's significant personal connections to the movement in Christian spirituality known as Pietism - would seem to demand thorough investigation. And yet, Kierkegaard's relation to Pietism has been largely neglected in the secondary literature. Kierkegaard, Pietism and Holiness fills this scholarly gap and, in doing so, provides the first full-length study of Kierkegaard's relation to the Pietist movement. First accounting for Pietism's role in Kierkegaard's social, ecclesial, and intellectual background, Barnett goes on to demonstrate Pietism's impact on Kierkegaard's published authorship, principally regarding the relationship between Christian holiness and secular culture. This book not only establishes Pietism as a formative influence on Kierkegaard's life and thinking, but also sheds fresh light on crucial Kierkegaardian concepts, from the importance of 'upbuilding' to the imitation of Christ.
Book Synopsis EL CONCEPTO DE LA ANGUSTIA by : Soren Kierkegaard
Download or read book EL CONCEPTO DE LA ANGUSTIA written by Soren Kierkegaard and published by Lebooks Editora. This book was released on 2022-10-05 with total page 253 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Kierkegaard en 90 minutos by : Paul Strathern
Download or read book Kierkegaard en 90 minutos written by Paul Strathern and published by Siglo XXI de España Editores. This book was released on 2014-09-08 with total page 46 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Fear and Trembling (Unabridged) by : Sören Kierkegaard
Download or read book Fear and Trembling (Unabridged) written by Sören Kierkegaard and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2013-08-05 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As one of Soren Kierkegaard's most widely read works, Fear and Trembling presents careful arguments about important biblical topics. Most notably, Kierkegaard acts more-or-less as a defense attorney for Abraham for his even contemplating the murder of his son. In the book, Kierkegaard considers whether Abraham was not subject to the ethical laws of the everyday universe that the rest of us live by every day--when he was acting under the direction of God (e.g. when God asked him to kill his own son). For a complete explanation and polemics of Kierkegaard's views, this book is highly recommended. That the subject matter of Fear and Trembling greatly disturbed Kierkegaard becomes readily obvious in the first pages. If the arguments presented are examined carefully, it is a topic whose implications may very well shock the modern-day theologian as well.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Holy Spirit movement in eighteenth century England gave rise to a religious revival that gave birth to the family of churches we know today as the wesleyans. Thus, by his importance as the genius organizer, it is essential to know the life and thought of one of the pillars within the Wesleyan movement: John Wesley. In this book - of a very simple and yet profound way- Dr. Magallanes offers us the most basic traits of the social-religious context in which Wesley lived in the England of the eighteenth century, aspects that influenced the family development of his character and spirituality, the education and training received in Oxford, experiences that awakened in Wesley his passion for evangelization and the doctrine of the holiness of heart and life that characterized the movement.
