Book Synopsis Research With Fission Fragments - International Workshop by : Till Von Egidy
Download or read book Research With Fission Fragments - International Workshop written by Till Von Egidy and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1997-06-27 with total page 434 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The acceleration of radioactive beams is a new and attractive field in nuclear physics. One of the most intense sources of very neutron-rich radioactive isotopes can be obtained by fission in a special uranium target close to the core of a research reactor. Two such installations are being planned: the PIAFE project in Grenoble and a similar facility at the new Munich research reactor FRM II. Accelerated fission fragments will facilitate the production of the heaviest elements by fusion and the investigation of nuclear structure and nuclear reactions for astrophysical purposes. This book discusses the application of fission fragments for many research fields.

It contains the latest experimental results on the formation and fission of superheavy nuclei and on the near-barrier fusion of light exotic nuclei, along with the different theoretical approaches to the description of fusion dynamics and microscopic properties of superheavy nuclei. The book also discusses nuclear collective dynamics and expectations from the use of accelerated beams of radioactive nuclei in fusion reactions. Contents: Aspects of Fusion, Fission and Cluster Radioactivity (W Greiner); Superheavy Nuclei in Deformed Mean-Field Calculations (T Brvenich et al.); The Synthesis of Superheavy Nuclei in the 48 Ca+ 244 Pu Reaction (Yu Ts Oganessian et al.); Fusion-Fission of Superheavy Nuclei at Low Excitation Energies (M G Itkis et al.); Semi-Bubbles and Bubbles: a New Kind of Superheavy Nuclei (K Dietrich); Reaction Theory for Synthesis of the Superheavy Elements (Y Abe); Fusion-Fission Dynamics of the Synthesis of Superheavy Nuclei (V I Zagrebaev); Sub-Barrier Fusion and Multi Nucleon Transfer in Medium-Heavy Nuclei (F Scarlassara et al.); Mechanisms of Sub-Barrier Fusion Enhancement (N Rowley); Transfer, Breakup, and Fusion Reactions of 6 He with 209 Bi Near the Coulomb Barrier (J J Kolata); Study of Sub-Barrier and Near-Barrier Fusion of Halo Nuclei (N Alamanos et al.); and other papers. Readership: Graduate students, researchers and lecturers in nuclear physics.

Book Synopsis Corinne 90 - International Workshop On Particle Correlations And Interferometry In Nuclear Collisions by : Daniel Ardouin
Download or read book Corinne 90 - International Workshop On Particle Correlations And Interferometry In Nuclear Collisions written by Daniel Ardouin and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1990-11-02 with total page 486 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, Dr Mak views the financial market from a scientific perspective. The book attempts to provide a realistic description of what the market is, and how future research should be developed. The market is a complex phenomenon, and can be forecasted only with errors — if that particular market can be forecasted at all.The book reviews the scientific literatures on the financial market and describes mathematical procedures which demonstrate that some markets are non-random. How the markets are modeled — phenomenologically and from first principle — is explained. It discusses indicators, which are quite objective, rather than price patterns, which are rather subjective. Similarities between indicators in market trading and operators in mathematics are noted, and particularly, between oscillator indicators and derivatives in Calculus. It illustrates why some indicators, e.g., Stochastics, have limited usage. Several new indicators are designed and tested on theoretical waveforms to check their validity and applicability. The indicators have a minimal time lag, which is significant for trading purposes. Common market behaviors like divergences between price and momentum are explained. A skipped convolution technique is introduced to allow traders to pick up market movements at an earlier time. The market is treated as a nonlinear phenomenon. Forecasting of when the market is going to turn is emphasized.

Book Synopsis Lecture Notes on Phase Transformations in Nuclear Matter by : Jorge Alberto L¢pez
Download or read book Lecture Notes on Phase Transformations in Nuclear Matter written by Jorge Alberto L¢pez and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2000 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The atomic nucleus, despite of being one of the smallest objects found in nature, appears to be large enough to experience phase transitions. In general, nuclear matter is believed to have liquid and gaseous phases as well as interesting combinations of them. This book reviews what is known theoretically and experimentally about these phases of nuclear matter and the mechanisms inducing transformations between them. Current theoretical models describing nuclear reactions at intermediate energies are presented, and, in particular, phenomenological techniques of analysis used in heavy-ion reaction are described for the benefit of the practitioners in the field.
