Seitdem sind Jahr für Jahr mehr Migranten unterschiedlichster Herkunft zugezogen; mit der Entscheidung auf Dauer zu bleiben. Doch diese Tatsache sollte sich als nicht ganz einfach zu lösende Aufgabe darstellen. [...] Hierbei kommt der Schule als Erziehungs- und Sozialisationsinstanz eine besondere Rolle zu. Sie ist ein Ort, an dem sich die Pluralität der Einwanderungsgesellschaften in besonderer Form widerspiegelt. „Als wichtige Sozialisationsinstitutionen wirken Schulen bei der Vermittlung von Normen und Werten mit, die eine Basis für den sozialen Zusammenhalt bilden.“ [...] Die Aufgabe der interkulturellen Bildung besteht darin, Kinder und Jugendliche auf ein Leben in einer multikulturellen Gesellschaft vorzubereiten. Zudem müssen Fremdenfeindlichkeit und Vorurteile gegenüber Migranten abgebaut werden. Die Integration von Migranten stellt also eine große Herausforderung dar, sowohl für die Migranten selbst, als auch für die autochthone Bevölkerung. Zu Beginn der Arbeit soll ein Überblick über die Heterogenität in Deutschland und Migration gegeben werden. Bevor ich verschiedene Typologien der Migration vorstelle, gebe ich eine Definition von „Migration“. Den nächsten Teil werde ich mit einer Definition von „Interkultureller Bildung“ beginnen, um im Anschluss auf die sechs Ansätze der Pluralität einzugehen. Abschließen möchte ich dieses Kapitel mit dem Entwurf einer Bildung zum Pluralismus. Im letzten Teil schreibe ich über die Kultusministerkonferenz und deren Empfehlung zur Interkulturellen Bildung und Erziehung. Hier werden die Ziele erläutert und deren Umsetzung, sowie die inhaltlichen Schwerpunkte im Unterricht. Ebenso soll der Mikrozensus 2005 des Konsortiums Bildungsberichterstattung näher beleuchtet werden.

Wenig sp ter nahm sie ber einen privaten Bildungstr ger eine Praktikantenstelle an der Universit t Kassel an, in der sie vor allem ihre vielseitigen sprachlichen Kompetenzen einsetzen konnte. Dies erkannten auch ihre Vorgesetzten und boten ihr eine Ausbildung zur B rokauffrau an. Der berufliche Lebenslauf von Zohra zeigt die Potenziale bei Jugendlichen mit Migrationshintergrund auf, l sst aber gleichzeitig auch m gliche Probleme junger Migranten im deutschen Bildungssystem erkennen. Ich habe die Biografie von Zohra zum Anlass genommen, herauszufinden, ob jugendliche Migranten interkulturelle Kompetenzen besitzen und ob der Einsatz der vorhandenen Potenziale den wohl schwierigen Zugang zum deutschen Bildungssystem verbessert. The study examines how multicultural education was actually presented to teachers, and areas in which their classroom teaching and perception of students changed over the two-year period. Although most of the teachers reported learning a good deal, changes in their teaching and their discussions of teaching were fairly limited. After reporting the data, the book examines why changes were limited, analyzing three areas: the nature of staff development and how multicultural education was packaged; the structure of schools as institutions; and the identities and life experiences of teachers as White women, often from working class backgrounds.
