Book Synopsis Homosexuality and Christian Community by : Choon Leong Seow
Download or read book Homosexuality and Christian Community written by Choon Leong Seow and published by Westminster John Knox Press. This book was released on 1996-01-01 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contributors to this volume, all members of the Princeton Theological Seminary faculty, address the various exegetical, interpretive, and practical issues pertaining to the issue of homosexuality in the church. These include the ordination of homosexuals and the blessing of homosexual unions, as well as broader issues dealing with liturgical and theological language about God and the role of the church in a pluralistic society. The contributors speak of these various issues as theological educators, ministers, and committed Christians. They ask, What do the scriptures say about homosexuality and related issues? How should the scriptures inform our theological reflection? and How do we live faithfully in regard to this matter? And like the Christian community at large, the contributors are not of one mind on any of these issues; many times they are in considerable disagreement. Homosexuality and Christian Community will help to guide churches and individuals engaged in theological reflection about the place of homosexuals in the church.
Book Synopsis A Handbook of Statistical Graphics Using SAS ODS by : Geoff Der
Download or read book A Handbook of Statistical Graphics Using SAS ODS written by Geoff Der and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2014-08-15 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Easily Use SAS to Produce Your Graphics Diagrams, plots, and other types of graphics are indispensable components in nearly all phases of statistical analysis, from the initial assessment of the data to the selection of appropriate statistical models to the diagnosis of the chosen models once they have been fitted to the data. Harnessing the full graphics capabilities of SAS, A Handbook of Statistical Graphics Using SAS ODS covers essential graphical methods needed in every statistician’s toolkit. It explains how to implement the methods using SAS 9.4. The handbook shows how to use SAS to create many types of statistical graphics for exploring data and diagnosing fitted models. It uses SAS’s newer ODS graphics throughout as this system offers a number of advantages, including ease of use, high quality of results, consistent appearance, and convenient semiautomatic graphs from the statistical procedures. Each chapter deals graphically with several sets of example data from a wide variety of areas, such as epidemiology, medicine, and psychology. These examples illustrate the use of graphic displays to give an overview of data, to suggest possible hypotheses for testing new data, and to interpret fitted statistical models. The SAS programs and data sets are available online.

This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 739 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ''Excellent and very timely....It will undoubtedly become a standard reference for the application of circular dichroism (CD) to biomolecules.'' --- Quarterly Review of Biology, March 1997 ''[T]estament to the book's utility is the fact that during the course of my review I had to 'rescue' it from the desks of graduate students on an almost daily basis. In summary, this is a great book.'' --- American Scientist ''Well documented chapters provide a very good insight into the problems surrounding the conformation of biomacromolecules...An indispensible source of information.'' --- Nahrung, 42(2), 1998 Renowned experts present the first state-of-the-art description of circular dichroism spectroscopy (CD). Chapters present in-depth discussions of the history of the field, the theory of CD for application to globular proteins, membrane proteins, peptides, nucleic acids and their interactions, carbohydrates, and instrumentation. Discussions also feature new techniques using synchrotron radiation, vibrational Raman optical activity, and vibrational CD. More than 250 illustrations supplement the text.

Book excerpt: These Proceedings, consisting of Parts A and B, contain the edited versions of most of the papers presented at the annual Review of Progress in Quantitative Nondestructive Evaluation held at the University of California San Diego, in La Jolla, California on July 19- July 24, 1992. The Review was organized by the Center for NDE at Iowa State University and the Ames Laboratory of the USDOE in cooperation with a number of organizations including the Air Force Wright Laboratory Materials Directorate, the American Society for Nondestructive Testing, the Center for NDE at Johns Hopkins University, the Department of Energy, the Federal Aviation Administration, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the National Science Foundation IndustrylUniversity Cooperative Research Centers, and the Working Group in Quantitative NDE. This year's Review of Progress in QNDE was attended by approximately 475 participants from the U. S. and many foreign countries who presented over 380 papers. With such a large volume of work to review, the meeting was divided into 36 sessions with as many as four sessions running concurrently. The Review covered all phases of NDE research and development from fundamental investigations to engineering applications or inspection systems, and it included all methods of inspection science from acoustics to x-rays. During the last twenty years, the participants of the Review have contributed to its steady growth. Thanks to their efforts, the Review is today one of the largest and most significant gatherings of NDE researchers and engineers anywhere in the world.

Book Synopsis Studies in Legal Systems:Mixed and Mixing by : Esin Orucu
Download or read book Studies in Legal Systems:Mixed and Mixing written by Esin Orucu and published by Springer. This book was released on 1996-02-13 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All legal systems are mixed: some more than others. There are covert mixtures and overt mixtures; stable mixtures and mixtures in transition. This book brings together a wide range of legal orders, some well known, some not so often studied. The analysis offered is far beyond a descriptive one, the general aim being to provide a basis for discussion by covering paths, methods and specific techniques, consequences and implications of legal migration. The newly emerging democracies of Eastern Europe, for example, are looking at the pool of models when re-designing their systems. Such systems in transition open up a whole new world of possibilities for research. The two final chapters on spectral jurisprudence and the conceptual search bring into focus and widen the analysis further.
