Download or read book Molar Protraction written by Un-Bong Baik and published by . This book was released on 2013-05-08 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about the substitution treatment of a missing 1st molar with protraction (forward movement) of the 2nd and 3rd molars by orthodontic space closure. It is one of the most recent treatment methods using miniscrews (TADs: Temporary Anchorage Devices). In cases of missing teeth--not only the 1st molar but also other teeth--an implant or prosthetic treatment is usually necessary. However, what if the patient considers receiving orthodontic treatment after an implant or prosthetics? Orthodontic treatment would become very difficult because an implant or prosthetics would prohibit orthodontic teeth movement. Figures on the front cover of this book show that the 2nd and 3rd molars have mesially drifted to the missing 1st molar space. The formerly impacted (unable to come in) 3rd molar erupted (came in) properly. Therefore, the 2nd and 3rd molars can function as the 1st and 2nd molars, respectively. In this case, troublesome extraction of the impacted 3rd molar and an implant or prosthetic treatment was unnecessary. Is this possible in all cases? If yes, then to what extent? Would there be any other problems in the periodontal and root structure? The substitution treatment of a missing 1st molar may also have its own risks, but if successful, it can largely benefit patients. This book is an organization of the 110 cases that I have treated, discussing both the positive and negative aspects of the concerned treatment. In addition, this book highlights missing space closure of the 1st molar because it is the most difficult type of orthodontic space closure. The missing space of other teeth is generally easier to close. Prosthodontic, endondontic, or periodontic doctors may have more chances to meet patients who have missing teeth than orthodontic specialists. I'd like to suggest that these doctors take this orthodontic treatment into consideration. Patients, as well as dentists, must be aware of various treatment options, including orthodontic treatment methods. I hope it can be a good option for missing teeth.
Book Synopsis Integrated Clinical Orthodontics by : Vinod Krishnan
Download or read book Integrated Clinical Orthodontics written by Vinod Krishnan and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-01-30 with total page 530 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Integrated Clinical Orthodontics provides an important new resource on the clinical interactions between the practice of orthodontics and other areas of clinical dentistry and medicine. Having at its heart the paradigm of patient-centred care, the book not only integrates the knowledge, skills, and experience of all the disciplines of dentistry and medicine, but also eases the work of orthodontists in arriving at an accurate diagnosis and a comprehensive treatment plan. Presented in a highly visual and practical format, Integrated Clinical Orthodontics uses clinical case presentations to illustrate the rationale and application of the integrated approach to a variety of clinical scenarios. Integrated Clinical Orthodontics covers areas of complexity in clinical orthodontics, specifically the role of the orthodontist as a member of a multidisciplinary team. The book outlines and details the management of congenital orofacial deformities, sleep disorders, esthetic smile creation and temporomandibular joint problems, and additionally and importantly includes specific protocols for effective communication with experts in other specialties.
Book Synopsis Quality of Orthodontic Care by : Bastiaan J. Njio
Download or read book Quality of Orthodontic Care written by Bastiaan J. Njio and published by IOS Press. This book was released on 2002 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of the EURO-QUAL programme has been to improve the quality of care for the individual patient. At the same time the need for harmonisation of health care in Europe was recognised. This Quality Improvement System (QIS) for orthodontic care in Europe comprises of 'Guidelines for how to implement a QIS' and reference material from the project teams: Financial Resources, Professional Development, Consumer Satisfaction, and Industrial Co-operation. In this respect the following topics are discussed: * The differences and similarities in local (national) quality initiatives. * The use of databases, as a technique to improve quality by comparing one's own performance against that of colleagues. * The influence of the different national systems of funding on both the amount of care provided as well as the quality of care. * The contents and the quality of the educational programmes, at all levels of orthodontic care. * Promotion of patients' rights and responsibilities before, during and after the orthodontic treatment. * A common goal and common language with the industrial partners by which the interaction can be optimised and communication will be enriched. This book provides the background information for the appropriate use of the European Orthodontic Quality Manual (EOQM). Strategies for the implementation of a QIS in orthodontics, taking into account the complex of the outlined aspects, make this book interesting for the orthodontic professional as well as the stakeholders (education, funding, industry, and consumers) in orthodontic care.
Download or read book Les corticotomies alvéolaires dans le cadre des mouvements orthodontiques accélérés written by Arnaud Sammut and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Orthodontie de l’adulte by : Pierre Canal
Download or read book Orthodontie de l’adulte written by Pierre Canal and published by Elsevier Masson. This book was released on 2011-05-25 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
