Todo este conjunto de razonamientos dibuja un perfil nómada y heterodoxo de los sexos y también de las resistencias que presentan quienes tratan de mantener a ultranza la divisoria de la feminidad y de la masculinidad como polos irreconciliables basados en la supuesta verdad de la Naturaleza. La batalla de los valores de género no ha concluido y el arte, poroso y sugerente, es un campo abonado para representar la continuidad, saludable, del conflicto.

Welchman sostiene que la historia es rehén de la composicionalidad moderna y las objetificaciones faciales de Matisse y Léger; que para Dalí se trata de un objeto oscuro e imposible, mientras que en las semiabstracciones densamente matéricas de Tàpies la historia se estratifica con la alegoría, la complicidad y el mito. Drozdik conecta la ciencia ilustrada y el socialismo del siglo xx con la subjetividad femenina, al tiempo que Veilhan evoca un museo de «historia no natural», y De Cock y Perdices, diferentes sistemas de camuflaje histórico. Palma se compromete una vez más con las fuerzas motoras de la máquina; Araújo, con la codificación histórica, y Ande Hope 1930, con un sorprendente rearbitraje del omniverso del cómic y del momento histórico que adoptó para su nombre. El resultado de tan particular análisis es un novedoso y clarificador recorrido por el panorama artístico europeo desde las primeras vanguardias hasta nuestros días.
