Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “What's my DNA?” Virgil Abloh asks to an overflowing auditorium at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. Abloh goes on to provide his audience with a “cheat code”—advice he wishes he had received as a student. He then unpacks a series of “shortcuts” for cultivating a “personal design language.” Trained as an architect and engineer, Abloh has translated the tools and techniques of his student days into the world of fashion, product design, and music. His label, Off-White, works in seeming contradictions, marrying streetwear with couture, collaborating with brands like Nike, Ikea, and the Red Cross; musicians like Lil Uzi Vert and Rihanna; and “mentors” like Rem Koolhaas. Impervious to hurdles (“They literally don't exist.”), Abloh takes us behind the scenes of his design process, sharing the essentials of editing, problem-solving, and storytelling. He paints a picture of his DNA, and then flips the question: What's your DNA? The Incidents is a series of publications based on events that occured at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design between 1936 and tomorrow. Edited by Jennifer Sigler and Leah Whitman-Salkin Copublished with the Harvard University Graduate School of Design

Book excerpt: Theodyssey is an adventure through the Bible that will cause you to see God’s book in a different way. It draws amazing parallels between Old Testament and New Testament characters and reveals the divine symmetry that God has woven into His Word to further proclaim the enmity and triumphant return of Christ. You will learn to clearly see Jesus in virtually every story throughout the Bible from beginning to end. Taking a somewhat direct route through God’s Word, Theodyssey exposes humanity’s obstacle-laden path to get back to Eden. From Genesis to Revelation, it highlights the weapons our enemy uses to lure us, ensnare us, and ultimately lead us away from God’s will and plan for us. It also provides a glimpse into God’s faithfulness, His incredible mercy, and how He actually uses both good and evil to affect his plan. Theodyssey is a passionate exploration of one of the most elusive questions in Judeo-Christian theology: the theodicy. Its particular strength is its reliance on carefully selected Scripture, which allows readers to explore the manuscript’s arguments in detail. While taking a somber and reverent perspective to the return of our Lord, the book provides both a hopeful and anticipatory tone, and leaves the curious reader with an appetite for further study.

Or maybe said yes when you wanted Him to say no? Bevan Charlene McKenna has experienced plenty of divine detours—those times when you can’t quite trace God’s direction, when “there is no searching of his understanding” (Isa. 40:28, KJV). But Bevan has found that God always has a plan, and sometimes He even lets you in on it. What’s more, when you finally figure out what He’s up to, you often discover that He has a sense of humor! Drawing from her growing-up years on the island of Trinidad, her career as a teacher, and the experiences of those close to her, Bevan shares times when God brought joyful outcomes in surprising ways. You’ll meet a forty-seven-year-old woman who finds herself pregnant; a university student with a family to support and a dwindling bank account; a recent graduate whose phone line goes dead while she’s waiting for that all-important call about a job offer. In these moments and many others, you’ll see how God “showed Himself strong” in ordinary people’s lives, giving them abundant reasons to Insert Praise Here! Bevan’s encouraging stories will inspire you to praise the Lord, even when you face perplexing circumstances.

Book excerpt: Constant noise and distraction clamor for our attention and make it difficult to distinguish God's voice from the voices surrounding us--both internal and external. We can be immobilized by fear of failure and our own insecurities, leaving us uncertain that it is God's voice we hear. A fresh voice for a new generation, Brittany Rust teaches believers how to discern the voice of God and live out the plans God has for them by · silencing the other voices so it's God's voice that prevails · tuning out the world and tuning in to the voice of God · gaining the confidence to step out in faith It's time for us to separate the loud, external distractions from the quiet whisper of our beautiful God, who promises us that when we call his name, he is ready to respond.

Professional model and aspiring fashion designer Monaysia Giles has never had a reason to care about the system of good and evil that sustains the city behind the bridge. Now, the place where corruption is currency has trapped her into learning how power is maintained. After the passing of the storm that loomed over her "unexpected" pregnancy, Monaysia settles into family life with Banger, a sexy thug from the wrong side of the tracks who only wants to worship her for having his baby. Their hood romance can't end with a happily ever after just yet, though. When fulfilling his promises to her gives her the chance to begin a career in Paris, a new slew of problems begins that threaten to tear the young family apart. Postpartum depression, dark secrets, and Banger's desire to save a city that doesn't deserve his dedication tempt Monaysia to look for affection elsewhere. Monaysia has never been one to back down from a game of tit for tat. She's never had such a worthy opponent either. Will this toxic couple's battle put them in a position to lose everything, including each other?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For anyone who has experienced turbulence on an airplane, it would be true to say that it usually comes without warning and happens quite suddenly. Things become a bit chaotic as you experience firsthand a change in pressure which rocks the airplane to and fro causing one to grasp the arm of the seat very tightly, lean one's head back, close their eyes for a moment, and say a prayer. Without knowing for sure, you, in fact trust, that the pilot is maintaining his composure and that he has been properly trained, skilled, and experienced in flying the airplane in any and all kinds of weather. Although there are certain safety precautions and standards set in place to protect or safeguard you against the danger of turbulence, it is at that point that one comes to the realization how much trust you put in the pilot flying the plane to get you through the phase of turbulence and get you to your destination safely. Trouble-there is no question about it. Everyone at one time or another has been faced with the turbulence it brings whether in health, family, finances, relationships, or something else. Psalm 34:19 says in the Amplified Bible that many hardships and perplexing circumstances confront the righteous, but the Lord rescues him from them all. Many times, God gets the blame when bad things happen and the god of this world the devil is never seen as the real person to blame. Jeremiah 29:11 in the Amplified Bible says, "For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you," says the LORD. "Plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope." Whatever trouble it is that you are going through, you can know that you have the victory and that God has not deserted you in your time of need. God has an amazing plan for your life, and you can trust him and take him at his Word knowing that what he said he will do for you he will do and he will see you through to your final destination!
