A Framework for K-12 Science Education outlines a broad set of expectations for students in science and engineering in grades K-12. These expectations will inform the development of new standards for K-12 science education and, subsequently, revisions to curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional development for educators. DNA diagnosis is being rapidly intro duced into medical genetics. All this, as well as the extensive progress in most other fields of human and medical genetics, had to be considered in the prepara tion of this second edition. The book has been extensively revised and rewritten. A substantial new section dealing with gene and chromosomal structure at the molecular level has been added.
