Book Synopsis Atmospheric Water Vapor by : Adarsh Deepak
Download or read book Atmospheric Water Vapor written by Adarsh Deepak and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-09-25 with total page 712 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Atmospheric Water Vapor contains the technical proceedings of the International Workshop on Atmospheric Water Vapor held in Vail, Colorado, on September 11-13, 1979. The papers assess the state-of-the-art in measurement, modeling, and application of atmospheric water vapor properties and highlight important problems that require further effort in order to better understand the atmosphere itself as well as the electromagnetic propagation through the atmosphere. Comprised of 39 chapters, this book begins with a discussion on the optics and spectroscopy of water vapor. Some actual spectra showing the problems specific to the water molecule are described, along with the method used to calculate precise vibration-rotation energy levels and wave functions. Atmospheric infrared transmission measurements in maritime locations are also presented. Subsequent sections explore microwave and millimeter wave phenomena; geoastrophysical applications; and in situ measurements, remote sensing, and meteorology of water vapor. The final chapters deal with the microphysics and atmospheric chemistry of water vapor. This monograph will be of interest to scientists from universities, government agencies, research laboratories, and industry.
Book Synopsis Calculation of Atmospheric Radiances and Brightness Temperatures by : Michael P. Weinreb
Download or read book Calculation of Atmospheric Radiances and Brightness Temperatures written by Michael P. Weinreb and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "We describe a method of simulating measurements of atmospheric radiances and brightness temperatures in wide-bank window channels (at 11 and 3.7 um) of satellite radiometers. As input the simulation takes vertical profiles of atmospheric temperature and water-vapor mixing ratio, as well as the spectral response functions of the window channels. It models the atmospheric transmittances and integrates the equation of radiative transfer. We demonstrate the use of the method with applications to the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer on the TIROS-N satellite."--p.1.

Book Synopsis Atmospheric Transmittance from 0.25 to 28.5 Micrometers by : J. E. A. Selby
Download or read book Atmospheric Transmittance from 0.25 to 28.5 Micrometers written by J. E. A. Selby and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This supplement provides several additions and updates to the LOWTRAN 3 computer code, which can be used to calculate the transmittance of the atmosphere from the ultraviolet to the middle infrared portion of the spectrum (0.25 to 28.5 micrometers) at a spectral resolution of 20 cm. The major additions are the inclusion of water vapor continuum attenuation in the 3.5 to 4.2 micrometers region, and a temperature dependence to the H2O continuum attenuation coefficient in both the 4 micrometers and 10 micrometers regions. The contribution of foreign gas broadening in the 8-14 micrometers region has also been reduced. Four aerosol models are included in this supplement. These include three boundary layer aerosol models for maritime, urban, and rural conditions in the lower 2 km of the atmosphere, and a tropospheric model for use mainly above 1 or 2 km altitude. The rural model is a replacement for the average continental model presently in LOWTRAN 3. A temporary provision is also given to accommodate fog conditions when the visual range falls below 2 km. Book Synopsis Infrared and Millimeter Waves V12 by : Kenneth J. Button
Download or read book Infrared and Millimeter Waves V12 written by Kenneth J. Button and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1984-12-28 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Infrared and Millimeter Waves, Volume 12: Electromagnetic Waves in Matter, Part II compiles the work of several authors while focusing on certain aspects of infrared and millimeter waves, such as sources of radiation, instrumentation, and millimeter systems. This volume covers electromagnetic waves in matter. Consist of six chapters, this book deals first with the millimeter-wave dielectric properties of materials, and then discusses low-frequency vibrations in long-chain molecules and polymers by far-infrared spectroscopy. The third chapter covers infrared magnetooptical spectroscopy in semiconductors and magnetic materials in high pulsed magnetic fields. Chapter 4 discusses spectral thermal infrared emission of the terrestrial atmosphere. Chapter 5 investigates frequency tuning and efficiency enhancement of high-power far-infrared lasers, while the last chapter discusses far-infrared laser scanner for high-voltage cable inspection. This book will be of great use to researchers or professionals whose work involves infrared and millimeter waves.
Book Synopsis Understanding Earth Observation by : Domenico Solimini
Download or read book Understanding Earth Observation written by Domenico Solimini and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-04-19 with total page 728 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume addresses the physical foundation of remote sensing. The basic grounds are presented in close association with the kinds of environmental targets to monitor and with the observing techniques. The book aims at plugging the quite large gap between the thorough and quantitative description of electromagnetic waves interacting with the Earth's environment and the user applications of Earth observation. It is intended for scientifically literate students and professionals who plan to gain a first understanding of remote sensing data and of their information content.
Book Synopsis Radiation and Water in the Climate System by : Ehrhard Raschke
Download or read book Radiation and Water in the Climate System written by Ehrhard Raschke and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 611 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study of the earth's climate requires reliable global data sets to validate numerical simulation models and to identify regional and global fluctuations and trends. This book presents ways to obtain such data from space-borne and ground-based measurements, both passive and active, over the entire electromagnetic spectrum. It describes the basics of such methods together with the most recent advancements and spans the field from clouds and the planetary radiation budget to surface processes and ocean properties. Each subject is backed by extensive reference lists to enable readers to probe more deeply.
