Diese Anregung gri ff ich gerne auf, insbesondere da ich das von J.S. BRUNER in seinem Buch 'The Process of Edu cation' (1960) vorgestellte Konzept der Orientierung von Un terricht an fundamentalen Ideen schon in meiner ersten Aus bildungsphase kennengelernt hatte und es mich reizte, dieses Konzept in meinen eigenen Fächern weiter zu verfolgen. Die vorliegende Arbeit ist das Ergebnis fUnfjähriger stu dien, in denen ich mich mi t allgemeinen fachdidaktischen, wissenschaftstheoretischen und stoffbezogenen Aspekten des Themas beschäftigt habe, mi t dem Ziel, konkrete Vorstell- gen iiber eine Einbeziehung von Elementen der Informatik in den Mathematikunterricht in der Grundschule zu gewinnen. Dabei wurde ich zunehmend in meiner überzeugung bestärkt, daß die Grundlagen der didaktischen überlegungen und Bei spie I e fiir die Primarstufe, näml ich das BRUNERsche Konzept und die entsprechende Liste fundamentaler Ideen der Informa tik, auch richtungsweisend fiir die unterricht I iche Behand lung informatischer Inhal te in anderen Fächern, in anderen Schulstufen und nicht zuletzt auch im Informatikunterricht selbst sein können und sollen.

Diesen Beiträgen soll an dieser Stelle kein weiterer hinzugefügt werden. Diese Arbeit geht der Grundfrage nach, welche Voraussetzungen für den Einsatz von Lernsoftware im Mathematikunterricht der Primarstufe gegeben sind und wie ein solcher Unterricht gestaltet werden muss, sodass er als Bereicherung der Lernumgebung fruchtbare Lernprozesse der SchülerInnen gewährleistet. Angesichts der bestehenden informationstechnologischen Ausstattung in den Schulen lässt sich nicht leugnen, dass der Computer bereits in den Grundschulen Einzug gehalten hat. Dieser Tatsache steht man aber vielerorts ratlos, gleichgültig oder sogar abwehrend gegenüber. Im zweiten Kapitel der vorliegenden Arbeit wird anhand von Ergebnissen, die z.T. durch Erhebungen des Bundesministeriums für Bildung und Forschung gewonnen wurden, auf die positive Entwicklung der informationstechnologischen Ausstattung in den Grundschulen Bezug genommen. In diesem Zusammenhang werden auch Missstände in der finanziellen Ausstattung der Schulen, die für den Betrieb und die Pflege der Ausstattung erforderlich ist, angesprochen. Des Weiteren werden auf Versäumnisse in der gegenwärtigen Ausbildung und auf daraus resultierende Probleme für den schulischen Computereinsatz hingewiesen. Im Anschluss daran werden befürwortende und ablehnende Positionen bezüglich des Computereinsatzes in der Schule gegenübergestellt. Im Hauptteil wird aufgezeigt, auf welche Weise der Computer speziell den Mathematikunterricht der Primarstufe positiv bereichern kann, welche Schwierigkeiten dabei zu erwarten sind, wie die Auswahl eines brauchbaren Lernprogramms geschehen kann und wie Elemente der informationstechnologischen Bildung im Unterricht der Primarstufe behandelt werden können.

Daran schließen im dritten Kapitel die Betrachtungen fachspezifischer mathematischer Systeme (Tabellenkalkulation, Graspable Math und GeoGebra Statistikpaket R und DYNASYS). Eingeleitet wird dieses Kapitel mit einer Antwort auf die schwierige Frage nach der begründeten Auswahl fachspezifischer Systeme für den Unterricht in Form eines Software Evaluation Sheets (SES). Im vierten Kapitel werden Technologische Hilfsmittel als Werkzeuge in der quantitativen und qualitativen empirischen Forschung diskutiert. Aus den Ergebnissen ergibt sich der Bedarf der Einbindung informatischer Bildung in den Bildungskanon der Grundschule. Die Autorin Johanna Hedwig Kerres ist angehende Doktorandin bei Prof. Dr. Daniel Frischemeier am Institut für grundlegende und inklusive mathematische Bildung der Westfälischen Wilhelms-Universität Münster. Forschungsschwerpunkt ist die forschungsbasierte Unterrichtsentwicklung zum Themenfeld informatischer Bildung im Mathematikunterricht der Grundschule.

Unlike most international conferences, those organised within the IFIP education community are active events. This wasn't a dry academic conference - teachers, lecturers and curriculum experts, policy makers, researchers and manufacturers mingled and worked together to explore, reflect and discuss social, ethical and cognitive issues. The added value lies in what they, the participants, took away in new ideas for future research and practice, and in the new networks that were formed, both virtual and real. In addition to Keynote Addresses and Paper Presentations from international authors, there were Provocative Paper sessions, Case Studies, Focussed Debates and Creative Exchange sessions as well as professional Working Groups who debated particular themes. The Focussed Debate sessions helped to stimulate the sense of engagement among conference participants. A Market Place with follow-up Working Groups was a positive highlight and galvanised participants to produce interesting reports. These were presented to the conference on its last day. Cross-fertilisation between the papers generated some surprising and useful cross-referencing and a plethora of social, ethical and cognitive issues emerged in the discussions that followed the paper presentations.
