Book excerpt: Estudou-se o efeito de três níveis de potássio sobre o comportamento de quatro cultivares de arroz (Oryza sativa L.) submetidos a deficiência hídrica, induzida pela suspensão da rega no estádio de perfilhamento. Utilizaram-se dois cultivares de arroz indicados para culturas de sequeiro (IAC-47 e IAC-5544) e dois outros indicados para lavouras irrigadas (IR 665-33-1-5 e SICA-4). O grau de desidratação alcançado pelos tecidos foliares, no fim do período de seca, foi avaliado pelo teor relativo de água e pelo acúmulo de prolina. Determinaram-se, também, os teores relativos de água ao longo de todo o período de indução do déficit hídrico, assim como em dois momentos subsequentes ao reinício da rega.
