Book Synopsis Routledge International Handbook of Ignorance Studies by : Matthias Gross
Download or read book Routledge International Handbook of Ignorance Studies written by Matthias Gross and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-05-15 with total page 427 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Once treated as the absence of knowledge, ignorance today has become a highly influential topic in its own right, commanding growing attention across the natural and social sciences where a wide range of scholars have begun to explore the social life and political issues involved in the distribution and strategic use of not knowing. The field is growing fast and this handbook reflects this interdisciplinary field of study by drawing contributions from economics, sociology, history, philosophy, cultural studies, anthropology, feminist studies, and related fields in order to serve as a seminal guide to the political, legal and social uses of ignorance in social and political life. Book Synopsis Granular Materials by : S Joseph Antony
Download or read book Granular Materials written by S Joseph Antony and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2007-10-31 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Granular materials play an important role in many industries. Continuous ingenuity and advancement in these industries necessitates the ability to predict the fundamental behaviour of granular materials under different working environments. With contributions from international experts in the field Granular Materials; Fundamentals and Applications details recent advances made in theoretical computational and experimental approaches in understanding the behaviour of granular materials including industrial applications. Topics covered include: * key features of granular plasticity * high temperature particle interactions * influence of polymers on particulate dispersion stability: scanning probe microscopy investigations * in-process measurement of particulate systems Presented by world renowned researchers this book will be welcomed by scientists and engineers working across a wide spectrum of engineering disciplines.
Book Synopsis Physical Properties of Amorphous Materials by : David Adler
Download or read book Physical Properties of Amorphous Materials written by David Adler and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Institute for Amorphous Studies was founded in 1982 as the international center for the investigation of amorphous mate rials. It has since played an important role in promoting the und er standing of disordered matter in general. An Institute lecture series on "Fundamentals of Amorphous Materials and Devices" was held during 1982-83 with distinguished speakers from universities and industry. These events were free and open to the public ,and were attended by many representatives of the scientific community. The lectures themselves were highly successful inasmuch as they provided not only formal instruction but also an opportunity for vigorous and stimulating debate. That last element could not be captured within the pages of a book I but the lectures concentrated on the latest advances in the field I which is why their essential contents are he re reproduced in collective form. Together they constitute an interdisciplinary status report of the field. The speakers brought many different viewpoints and a variety of back ground experiences io bear on the problems involved I but though language and conventions vary I the essential unity of the concerns is very clear I as indeed are the ultimate benefits of the many-sided approach.

Book Synopsis Matrix Isolation Spectroscopy by : A. Barnes
Download or read book Matrix Isolation Spectroscopy written by A. Barnes and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 602 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The matrix isolation (MI) method has now been used for nearly thirty years. During this period it has been actively developed and the range of problems tackled greatly extended. Originally it was used for studies of transient species involv ing vibrational, electronic and ESR spectroscopy. Nowadays the study of transient species forms a comparatively small part of HI work since it has been amply demonstrated that very fruitful information can be obtained of the structure and interactions of stable molecules and their aggregates. In addition to the s~ectroscopic methods mentioned above the MI technique is nowadays a standard method in research based on vibrational relaxation, luminescence, Mossbauer, magnetic circular dichroism, pulsed NMR and photoelectron spectroscopy. The matrix isolation technique affords considerable advantages over more conventional methods in most applications of spectroscopy. Areas where the technique has been widely applied, or shows great potential, include: metal atom chemistry, and its relation to surface chemistry, high temperature inorganic species, transition metal complexes, interstellar species, free radicals and unstable molecules, conformational studies, molecular com plexes, and intermolecular forces.

Book Synopsis MATERIAUX SUPRACONDUCTEURS by : Philippe Mangin
Download or read book MATERIAUX SUPRACONDUCTEURS written by Philippe Mangin and published by EDP Sciences. This book was released on 2017-11-23T00:00:00+01:00 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
