This book was released on 2004-07-22 with total page 557 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first extensive reference on these important techniques The restructuring of the electric utility industry has created the need for a mechanism that can effectively coordinate the various entities in a power market, enabling them to communicate efficiently and perform at an optimal level. Communication and Control in Electric Power Systems, the first resource to address its subject in an extended format, introduces parallel and distributed processing techniques as a compelling solution to this critical problem. Drawing on their years of experience in the industry, Mohammad Shahidehpour and Yaoyu Wang deliver comprehensive coverage of parallel and distributed processing techniques with a focus on power system optimization, control, and communication. The authors begin with theoretical background and an overview of the increasingly deregulated power market, then move quickly into the practical applications and implementations of these pivotal techniques. Chapters include: Integrated Control Center Information Parallel and Distributed Computation of Power Systems Common Information Model and Middleware for Integration Online Distributed Security Assessment and Control Integration, Control, and Operation of Distributed Generation Agent Theory and Power Systems Management e-Commerce of Electricity A ready resource for both students and practitioners, Communication and Control in Electric Power Systems proves an ideal textbook for first-year graduate students in power engineering with an interest in computer communication systems and control center design. Designers, operators, planners, and researchers will likewise appreciate its unique contribution to the professional literature.

Book Synopsis Steiner Trees in Industry by : Xiuzhen Cheng
Download or read book Steiner Trees in Industry written by Xiuzhen Cheng and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-01 with total page 508 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a collection of articles studying various Steiner tree prob lems with applications in industries, such as the design of electronic cir cuits, computer networking, telecommunication, and perfect phylogeny. The Steiner tree problem was initiated in the Euclidean plane. Given a set of points in the Euclidean plane, the shortest network interconnect ing the points in the set is called the Steiner minimum tree. The Steiner minimum tree may contain some vertices which are not the given points. Those vertices are called Steiner points while the given points are called terminals. The shortest network for three terminals was first studied by Fermat (1601-1665). Fermat proposed the problem of finding a point to minimize the total distance from it to three terminals in the Euclidean plane. The direct generalization is to find a point to minimize the total distance from it to n terminals, which is still called the Fermat problem today. The Steiner minimum tree problem is an indirect generalization. Schreiber in 1986 found that this generalization (i.e., the Steiner mini mum tree) was first proposed by Gauss.
Book Synopsis Artificial Intelligence Applications in Electrical Transmission and Distribution Systems Protection by : Almoataz Y. Abdelaziz

Book Synopsis Crypto and AI by : Behrouz Zolfaghari
Download or read book Crypto and AI written by Behrouz Zolfaghari and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-11-14 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book studies the intersection between cryptography and AI, highlighting the significant cross-impact and potential between the two technologies. The authors first study the individual ecosystems of cryptography and AI to show the omnipresence of each technology in the ecosystem of the other one. Next, they show how these technologies have come together in collaborative or adversarial ways. In the next section, the authors highlight the coevolution being formed between cryptography and AI. Throughout the book, the authors use evidence from state-of-the-art research to look ahead at the future of the crypto-AI dichotomy. The authors explain how they anticipate that quantum computing will join the dichotomy in near future, augmenting it to a trichotomy. They verify this through two case studies highlighting another scenario wherein crypto, AI and quantum converge. The authors study current trends in chaotic image encryption as well as information-theoretic cryptography and show how these trends lean towards quantum-inspired artificial intelligence (QiAI). After concluding the discussions, the authors suggest future research for interested researchers.
