Download or read book In volo nel passato. Aerofotografia e cartografia archeologica written by and published by All’Insegna del Giglio. This book was released on 2005-05-01 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Mappa. Pisa in the Middle Ages by : Gabriele Gattiglia
Download or read book Mappa. Pisa in the Middle Ages written by Gabriele Gattiglia and published by Edizioni Nuova Cultura. This book was released on 2014-07-01 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume represents the third edition of a work cycle that started in 2006 for my PhD thesis. The thesis was presented in 2010 (first edition, Gattiglia 2010), partially published as a summary monograph in 2011 (second edition, Gattiglia 2011) or in articles (Gattiglia 2012, Gattiglia 2012a, Gattiglia 2011a), and now (third edition) takes the form of a more comprehensive publication in the light of new data. Over the past two years, the work study on Pisa, not only relating to the Middle Ages, continued within the MAPPA (Metodologie Applicate alla Predittività del Potenziale – Methodologies Applied to Archaeological Potential Predictivity) project, allowing a widespread collection of data thanks to which it was possible to explain more fully the hydro-geological, geomorphological and topographic context and to check (and in many cases change) part of the assumptions made.

Book Synopsis Good Practice in Archaeological Diagnostics by : Cristina Corsi
Download or read book Good Practice in Archaeological Diagnostics written by Cristina Corsi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-11 with total page 339 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume represents the most important “deliverable” of the European-funded project Radio-Past (www.radiopast.eu). It is intended to disseminate the key results achieved in the form of methodological guidelines for the application of non-destructive approaches in order to understand, visualize and manage complex archaeological sites, in particular large multi-period settlements whose remains are still mostly buried. The authors were selected from among the project research “staff” but also from among leading international specialists who served as speakers at the two international events organized in the framework of the project (the Valle Giulia Colloquium of Rome – 2009 and the Colloquium of Ghent – 2013) and at the three Specialization Fora, the high formation training activities organized in 2010, 2011 and 2012. As such, the book offers contributions on diverse aspects of the research process (data capture, data management, data elaboration, data visualization and site management), presenting the state of the art and drafting guidelines for good practice in each field.
Download or read book Broadening Horizons written by Bart Ooghe and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2009-10-02 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ‘Broadening Horizons: multidisciplinary approaches to landscape study’ presents nine papers on physical landscape research in the Mediterranean and the Near East. Giving prime place to young researchers working in this field, it brings together highly diverse applications ranging from ground survey to semi-automated remote sensing, from cuneiform studies to palynology and from human geography to paradigm re-evaluation. Aimed at a public of both students and scholars with a shared interest in the study of past landscapes, its aims are dual. In presenting ongoing research which applies various techniques available to the student of landscape, it aims to add to the practice of these sub-fields. As such it may also provide a first insight into the particular methodologies addressed. In addition, by extending its gaze beyond geographical, temporal or disciplinary constraints, ‘Broadening Horizons’ addresses the need for a continued awareness of the many different methods and conceptualisations existing in this field. It hopes to illustrate some of the highly diverse ways in which to approach physical landscapes of the past and, by doing so, stress once again the value of continued cooperation between the many specialisations that make up this ever-expanding area of research. "This is a very positive endeavour to improve cross-discipline awareness and collaboration. It is organised as a multi-facetted reader highlighting some of the wide ranging ways in which the past landscapes of the Mediterranean and Near East can be approached. It provides a significant contribution to the field of landscape research, and should prove of value to specialists and beginning researchers alike, both for its specific topics and its multidisciplinary approach." Professor Dr. M. Tanret, Head of the Dept. of Languages and Cultures of the Near East, Ghent University

Book Synopsis Ebla and its Landscape by : Paolo Matthiae
Download or read book Ebla and its Landscape written by Paolo Matthiae and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-06-16 with total page 564 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The discovery of 17,000 tablets at the mid-third millennium BC site of Ebla in Syria has revolutionized the study of the ancient Near East. This is the first major English-language volume describing the multidisciplinary archaeological research at Ebla. Using an innovative regional landscape approach, the 29 contributions to this expansive volume examine Ebla in its regional context through lenses of archaeological, textual, archaeobiological, archaeometric, geomorphological, and remote sensing analysis. In doing so, they are able to provide us with a detailed picture of the constituent elements and trajectories of early state development at Ebla, essential to those studying the ancient Near East and to other archaeologists, historians, anthropologists, and linguists. This work was made possible by an IDEAS grant from the European Research Council.

Book Synopsis Recording, Modeling and Visualization of Cultural Heritage by : Manos Baltsavias
Download or read book Recording, Modeling and Visualization of Cultural Heritage written by Manos Baltsavias and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2005-11-17 with total page 544 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with the recording, modelling and visualization of cultural heritage (anthropogenic objects and natural scenes) and related processes. The areas discussed include data acquisition, using a variety of sensors (mainly optical sensors and laser scanners); platforms and mobile systems; data management and Spatial Information Systems; 3D modeling; and reconstruction, visualization and animation; Virtual and Augmented Reality, including innovative software and hardware systems; applications and interdisciplinary projects. A central focus is the development of methods for automated data processing. The aim of the workshop was to survey recent developments, trends, and new approaches and to bring together the various heterogeneous groups active in cultural heritage (sponsors, archaeologists and architects, scientists in remote sensing, photogrammetry, computer vision and computer graphics etc.). The involvement of these groups, representing both producers and users of information, allowed a cross-fertilisation and a multidisciplinary treatment of the workshop topics. This book offers a comprehensive selection of high-quality contributions from leading international research institutions and other organisations active in cultural heritage, treating theoretical issues as well as projects and applications and representing the cutting edge of this key subject as presented at the workshop organised by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich at Monte Verità, Ascona, Switzerland on 22-27 May 2005.

Download or read book Nonantola 3: le terre dell'Abate. Il Nonantolano tra Tardantichità e Medioevo written by Mauro Librenti and published by All’Insegna del Giglio. This book was released on 2011-12-01 with total page 111 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
