This book was released on 2013-05-30 with total page 23 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of the paper is to inform Executive Directors of recent work undertaken by the Statistics Department (STA) to further enhance data consistency. STA works to promote high quality statistics as essential pre-requisites for the formulation of appropriate macroeconomic and financial policies. Such work supports IMF surveillance and goals that are articulated in Board papers pertaining to Data Provision to the Fund for Surveillance Purposes; the G-20/IMFC Data Gaps Initiative; and the Fund’s Data Standards Initiatives. All these initiatives are motivated by the Executive Directors’ interest in better and more consistent data. An important element of STA’s work program is the project to improve crosssector data consistency. This project has focused on an initial set of countries that reflect the diverse nature of the IMF’s membership, and on selected data series. Data inconsistencies across macroeconomic datasets (financial, government, external, and national accounts statistics) have been found to exist for most countries, regardless of their size and level of development. Such inconsistencies may arise from a variety of reasons, including methodological differences and different data vintages. The project has been favorably received by member countries and has enhanced cooperation at both the international and national levels. Indeed, because a number of agencies within a country may be involved in compiling macroeconomic statistics, the project has encouraged strengthened national inter-agency cooperation to resolve inconsistencies. In spite of ongoing efforts, many inconsistencies persist, and new inconsistencies may sometimes arise. A significant initial finding is that countries may face challenges in improving cross-sector data consistency. In particular, member country resource constraints often limit the scope of their work in the short– and medium–term. Next steps. The recent work undertaken by STA has yielded significant positive results in a relatively brief period of time. Therefore, next steps involve expanding this work to eventually cover all countries, and monitoring inconsistencies on an ongoing basis so that they are not allowed to persist without follow-up with countries.

Book Synopsis Mathematical Physics - Proceedings Of The Xi Regional Conference by : Sohrab Rahvar
Download or read book Mathematical Physics - Proceedings Of The Xi Regional Conference written by Sohrab Rahvar and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2005-05-09 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since 1984, a series of regional conferences on mathematical physics has been organized by physicists from Iran, Pakistan and Turkey to promote the research in mathematical and theoretical physics in the region. This volume, which derives from the XI Regional Conference on Mathematical Physics, comprises 8 review and 44 research articles on the most significant topics in mathematical and theoretical physics such as astrophysics and cosmology, conformal field theory, high energy physics, general relativity and plasma physics. The review articles are comprehensive and self-contained and report on the most important developments in the corresponding subjects. Each review article provides a complete list of references, which is especially useful for graduate students who are just starting their research activities; even ambitious undergraduates in physics can use these review papers as useful background material to go further into the subject and explore the research literature. They are contributed by prominent senior scientists: M Moniez (Laboratoire de l'Accelerateur Lineare, France) and V Sahni (Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), India) in Astrophysics and Cosmology, W Nahm (Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies (DIAS), Ireland) in Conformal Field Theory, J Lukierski (University of Wroclaw, Poland) in Mathematical Physics, Riazuddin and Fayyazuddin (Quaid-i-Azam University, Pakistan) in High Energy Physics, N Dadhich (Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), India) and A Qadir (National University of Science and Technology, Pakistan) in General Relativity, and N Tsintsadze (Tbilisi State University, Georgia) in Plasma Physics.

Download or read book Whistleblowing in the Australian Public Sector written by A. J. Brown and published by ANU E Press. This book was released on 2008-09-01 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The product of one of the world's most comprehensive research projects on whistleblowing, evidence from over 8,000 public servants in over 100 federal, state and local government agencies shows that whistleblowers can and do survive, and that often their role is highly valued. Public sector managers face significant challenges in better managing and protecting whistleblowers. There is great variation between the many public agencies making the effort, and the many agencies where the outcomes - for managers and whistleblowers alike - are still likely to be grim. This book is compulsory reading for all public sector managers who wish to turn this negative trend around, and for anyone interested in public accountability generally.

This book was released on 1964 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The EBWR Plutonium Recycle Experiment has been initiated to provide data for the creation of a computational model that will permit accurate prediction of isotopic behavior and reactivity changes with burnup for plutonium-fueled, light-water, thermal reactors. A preliminary model, described in this report, has been tested against data from a number of cold critical experiments. Data from hot critical and from the EBWR central plutonium region at various burnups are necessary before a complete model can be formulated.
Book Synopsis Zimbabwe by : International Monetary Fund. African Dept.
Download or read book Zimbabwe written by International Monetary Fund. African Dept. and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2014-07-11 with total page 83 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This 2014 Article IV Consultation highlights that economic rebound in Zimbabwe experienced since the end of hyperinflation in 2009 has now ended. After averaging 10 percent over 2009–2012, growth fell to an estimated 3.3 percent in 2013, reflecting tight liquidity conditions, election-year uncertainty, weak demand for key exports, competitiveness pressures, and the impact of adverse weather conditions. Inflation continued its downward trend from 2.9 percent (year over year) at end-2012 to ?0.3 percent in April 2014. The medium-term outlook, under the baseline scenario, is for growth to average some 4 percent, as large mining sector investments reach full capacity.
