As a chronic disease with long term course and serious outcomes means a conflicting, serious, stressful and burning situation which negatively affects quality of life. In this work we are showing importance of social support for improving the quality of life for a diabetic patients.Aim: Determine the importance of different types of social support to improve the quality of life of diabetic patients using the new tool DIASSQL 23/20 (Diabetes Social Support Quality of Life 23/20) drawn up for the implementation of the milestones of the research.Method: In the first part we are describing epidemiologic course of diabetes mellitus. In the second part we are determining emotional, informational, instrumental and evaluating social support, provision, admission, perception, availability, obtainability of social support, level of social support in context of social needs. In the third part we are determining quality of life, aspects of quality of life and benefit of groups in system of quality of life. In fourth part we are focusing on research and the seven individual aims of the research and five hypothesis. We specify of the research, research models, methods of research, organization and analysis of the research in statistical program Statistical Package for Social Science SPSS. In the survey section, DIASSQL 23/20, we used the method of qualitative research in the form of a combined system of an anonymous questionnaire. Survey sample DIASSQL 23/20 completed of 160 respondents, 143 respondents participated in the survey. DIASSQL 23/20 contains 23 social support items, 20 qualiy of life items and 9 sociodemographic survey questions, which we have obtained together 17 303 informations. The results we processed by the software program Microsoft Excel, statistical software program Statistical Package for the Social Science SPSS and descriptive and inductively statistics into tables and graphs summarize in the discussion and suggested recommendations for practice.Results: We are evaluating the results of the research, appointing practical advantages and recommendations for the daily practice within the modern health education and application of the social work. We could show importance of social support in improving quality of life of diabetic patients. Social support is essential for improving the quality of life for diabetic patients and compensation of diabetes mellitus. New instrument DIASSQL 23/20 is suitable for use in the context of diabetology evidence-based and diabetes education. Will provide modern diabetology other options like even more to help diabetic patients who really need it.Discussion: Chronic disease causes significant interference in the daily lives of individuals. A diabetes mellitus for its pandemic character not only a crisis, stress and stress situation, but as a civilization, a chronic, metabolic, non-communicable diseases with long-term course, economic, psychological, social and health consequences of the deterioration of the overall quality of life and global problem. Namely negative impact on the life of individuals, families, groups, communities and of society. When challenging journey through life with diabetes mellitus significantly assisted by appropriate social support. It is depend not only the quality of social relationships and past experiences, as well as providers, whether from family, groups, communities in social networks, and by the volunteers and professional diabetes educators.
