Esto como resultado de una creciente competitividad global en donde solo las empresas con las mejores prácticas sobrevivirán. Las compañías están obligadas a buscar y establecer los mejores sistemas a lo largo de toda la empresa con el fin de eliminar costos innecesarios e incrementar los índices de calidad y productividad, y por ende, aumentar los márgenes de operación. Este trabajo de tesis plantea la implantación de un sistema de manufactura esbelta como una solución factible por su poca complejidad y bajo costo. Para el desarrollo de esta tesis se analizaron las ventajas y debilidades de las diferentes técnicas y herramientas que componen la manufactura esbelta y se escogieron aquellas que se aplican mejor al sistema de producción de la empresa. La primera parte consistió en evaluar la situación actual de la empresa para definir los principales problemas que afectan su desempeño. Posteriormente se proponen diferentes proyectos de mejora enfocados a solucionar específicamente los problemas presentados. Finalmente se desarrollan los proyectos propuestos con la intención de analizar la factibilidad de su implantación. Para las etapas de análisis, planeación y desarrollo de propuestas se utilizan algunas herramientas y técnicas de manufactura esbelta encontradas en diferentes fuentes bibliográficas. Los resultados arrojados confirman una vez más que un sistema de trabajo esbelto brinda el mejor sistema en términos de productividad, calidad y costo y es el modelo a seguir para cualquier empresa que desee mejorar estos indicadores.

El aumento de la utilización de estas técnicas contrasta con la cantidad de empresas todavía arraigadas al uso del papel como soporte principal tanto para la gestión interna como para documentos externos, lo cual genera una gran cantidad de residuos además del coste asociado a su uso. El presente proyecto se basa en el caso de una empresa industrial del sector de la automoción con los objetivos de reducir los tiempos de cambio entre productos para así ganar tiempo, reducir los despilfarros, aumentar la producción y al mismo tiempo mejorar los resultados. Este trabajo se hará de la mano de la informatización del sistema de control de producción para acortar el camino desde la introducción a mano de los operarios hasta la posterior introducción de estos datos a un ordenador para ser analizados. La mejora de los tiempos de cambio entre artículos se realizará con el uso de una potente herramienta de Lean Manufacturing como es la metodología SMED y la automatización del sistema de control de producción se desarrollará con el programa de gestión de bases de datos llamada Access de Microsoft Office.

For example, some authors have a broad definition of WRL and define it as learning for work, at work and through work, ranging from formal, through semi-structured to informal learning. Others prefer to use the concept of WRL mainly in connection to informal, incidental learning processes during work, leading to competent workplace learners. Formal and informal learning are distinguished from each other with respect to the level of intention (implicit/non-intentional/incidental versus deliberative/intentional/structured). Another point of discussion originates from the different ‘theoretical backgrounds’ of the authors: the ‘learning theorists’ versus the ‘organizational theorists’. The first group is mainly interested in the question of how learning comes about; the second group is predominantly interested in the search for factors affecting learning.
