Les 14 articles retenus montrent l'importance de : - la dimension verticale faciale générale, avec une préférence pour les visages présentant des proportions normales, ou une légère tendance à l'hypodivergence, - la hauteur du menton, - les rapports entre les différents composants verticaux de l'étage inférieur. Le sens vertical se révèle être tout aussi important que le sens sagittal dans l'appréciation de l'attractivité faciale. Une déviation extrême des normes idéales entraine une augmentation du besoin en chirurgie orthognathique.
