Download or read book Mary written by Sarah Jane Boss and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 2004-06-12 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: C.G. Jung argued that the definition of the doctrine of the Assumption was the most important religious event since the Reformation: the feminine principle has been absorbed into the Godhead. The author argues that Christian theology should conceive of creation, both physical and spiritual, as sacred in the highest degree, and that this understanding is already implicit in traditions of Marian doctrine and devotion, making her a vital theological symbol reclaimed by women as a symbol of true humanity which the church and the modern world urgently needs.

Book Synopsis Formes Du Salut by : Emmanuelle Mercier
Download or read book Formes Du Salut written by Emmanuelle Mercier and published by Presses universitaires de Louvain. This book was released on 2020-05-27 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Medieval Iberia written by Donald J. Kagay and published by Peter Lang Incorporated, International Academic Publishers. This book was released on 1997 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If the old aphorism is to be believed, «Spain begins at the Pyrenees». This European and Spanish proclamation of difference or uniqueness is born out, in a sense, but also turned on its head by this collection of essays by an eminent group of American Hispanicists. These articles focus on various aspects of medieval Iberian society, economy, and religion as well as the Peninsula's rich and diverse literature of the era. This essay collection thus provides a valuable introduction to the study of the Spanish «national character», which is indeed unique but rooted in general European traditions.

Download or read book Cobras E Son written by Stephen Parkinson and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2000 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 13th-Century (Cantiagas de Santa Maria) were composed and set to music at the court of King Alfonso X of Castille. They were songs in praise of the Virgin Mary, composed in the Galican-Portugese language. While there has been long-standing debate over the musical notations, only recently scholors have become aware of textual problems demanding a close study of all manyscript components, paticuarly the relation between the poetry (Cobras) and music (Son). This volume consists mainly of papers given at an international colloquium held in Oxford in 1994. The meeting discussed textual, musical, palaeographical and iconographical problems of the Cantiagas de Santa Maria, questioning many views about the relationships between the manuscripts, the evolution of the collections, the source of the music and the place of the collections in relation to artistic and scriptorial developments in Europe. Contributors include: Stephen Parkinson, Manuael Pedro Ferreira, David Wulston, Mary O'Neill, Ana Dominguez Rodriguez, Susana Zapke, Valeria Bertolucci Pizzorusso, Jesus Montoya Martinez, Martha Schaffer. (Legenda 2000) Not yet published; expected Autumn 2000
