Book excerpt: Winning Souls Starts With Loving People Christian evangelism has too often focused on "winning souls" to the exclusion of meeting real, everyday needs. Yet Jesus' earthly ministry followed a different pattern: He reached for people on the margins. He touched people no one else would touch. He spoke hope to people consumed by despair. And as the Lord extended Himself in compassion to meet the needs of the sick, the lost, and the hopeless, people turned their hearts to Him. Love Like Jesus will help you follow Jesus' pattern for changing lives. You will learn the importance of placing your confidence in Him alone, of staying faithful through seasons of unfruitfulness, of facing your fears with courage, and much more. Most of all, you will catch a vision of God's unfathomable love for every person, and get the tools you need to share it with people in need of a Savior.

Book excerpt: Judah Smith, New York Times bestselling author of Jesus Is ____, helps readers understand what steals their peace of mind and outlines the path to peace and fulfillment: understanding and implementing the healthy soul environment God originally designed. Modern everyday life is stressful and confusing, full of overly packed schedules and circumstances outside one’s control. This can be especially troubling for Christians who are wrestling with reality while trying to put their trust in God. But the truth is, anxiety does not have to be the constant from day to day. In fact, all the things people most desire in life--peace of mind, hope for tomorrow--are rooted in one simple thing: how they care for the health of their souls. In How's Your Soul?, Judah Smith explores the various facets and needs of the inner person, demonstrating that the path to cultivating healthy souls starts with discovering God’s original design. He helps readers find real peace and security by bringing their feelings into alignment with God’s truth, discover a healthy sense of identity from God and feel empowered to face the future with a new security and confidence, and learn the four elements necessary for a healthy soul environment. Sharing his own often humorous mistakes and foibles, Judah offers a helping hand as readers find their way through the emotional rollercoasters of life to discover the soul-healing essentials rooted in what he calls the soul’s only true home--God himself.

This book was released on 2020-02-11 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on Kurt Bennett's popular-ish blog God Running, Love Like Jesus begins with the story of how after a life of regular church attendance and Bible study, Bennett was challenged by a pastor to study Jesus. That led to an obsessive seven-year deep dive. After pouring over Jesus' every interaction with another human being, he realized he was doing a much better job of studying Jesus' words than he was following Jesus' words and example. The honest and fearless revelations of Bennett's own moral failures affirm he wrote this book for himself as much as for others. Love Like Jesus examines a variety of stories, examples, and research, including: -Specific examples of how Jesus communicated God's love to others. -How Jesus demonstrated all five of Gary Chapman's love languages (and how you can too). -The story of how Billy Graham extended Christ's extraordinary love and grace toward a man who misrepresented Jesus to millions. -How to respond to critics the way Jesus did. -How to love unlovable people the way Jesus did. -How to survive a life of loving like Jesus (or how not to become a Christian doormat). -How Jesus didn't love everyone the same (and why you shouldn't either). -How Jesus guarded his heart by taking care of himself--he even napped--and why you should do the same.-How Jesus loved his betrayer Judas, even to the very end. With genuine unfiltered honesty, Love Like Jesus, shows you how to live a life according to God's definition of success: A life of loving God well, and loving the people around you well too. A life of loving like Jesus.

This book was released on 2017-12-14 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I wrote this book telling about all the great men and women of God and their struggles and learning experiences so people would realize that we all go through trials and learning experiences. But if we have God in our lives, we have someone to go through them with us. God uses everything to build character in us and make us great men and women of God too. If we have the Lord in our life, He is the one who fights for us and shows us the way out of our dilemmas. We need to stay close to Him and learn to hear His voice inside of us, and He will show us the way. At the appointed time, it will surely come to pass. A friend gave me a bookmarker one time that said, "It's hard to fly like an eagle when you are living with turkeys." I told her, "You have to learn to soar above them and allow God to solve the problems or show you what you are supposed to do. Don't get involved in a turkey fight when you are an eagle. Fly and soar on high with Him." When a mother eagle teaches her young to fly, she takes them out on her wings and drops them off and tells them to fly. But she soars right with them so she can fly under them and catch them on her wings if they don't make it the first time. She will know when they are ready to fly by themselves. That is the same way it is with God. He is there to catch us if we fall. I wrote this poem in my Bible years ago, and I don't even know where I read it. I added to it over the years as I learned how true it was. God says, "Come to the edge." But it is dangerous there! God says, "Come to the edge." But I might fall! God says, "Come to the edge." So I went to the edge, and He pushed me. I started to fall, and I cried for help, and God said, "Spread your wings!" I did, and I began to fly. We have to see the invisible, believe the impossible, and we will achieve the incredible. Just listen to God and wait on His timing! God's plans for us are greater than anything we could ever think or imagine. Isaiah 40:31 says, "Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint." God called Abraham the father of faith. God told him that his descendants would be as the sand on the seashore. There were many descendants of Abraham over generations, but there are also spiritual descendants of Abraham. We are part of his family of faith when we accept Jesus Christ as our savior. God is our shield and exceeding great reward. The covenant has been handed down to us! All we have to do is believe it and receive it! We are blessed by God Almighty and Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son! It is up to us! The choice is ours. We are part of the family of God, and there is not a thing the devil can do to change that, unless you let him. God is able to see you through anything you will ever face if you will just invite Him in.

Book excerpt: Seeking peace and safety after a hard childhood, Leah marries Judah, a strong and gentle man, and for the first time in her life Leah believes she can rest easily. But the land is ruled by Antiochus IV, descended from one of Alexander the Great's generals, and when he issues a decree that all Jews are to conform to Syrian laws upon pain of death, devout Jews risk everything to follow the law of Moses. Judah's father resists the decree, igniting a war that will cost him his life. But before dying, he commands his son to pick up his sword and continue the fight--or bear responsibility for the obliteration of the land of Judah. Leah, who wants nothing but peace, struggles with her husband's decision--what kind of God would destroy the peace she has sought for so long? The miraculous story of the courageous Maccabees is told through the eyes of Judah's wife, who learns that love requires courage . . . and sacrifice.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Religion is an essential part of our humanity. We all follow some form of religion, in the original meaning of the word. But organized religion establishes definitions, boundaries and hierarchies which the founders would be amazed by. This is perhaps more true of Christianity than most other religions, due to the short life of Jesus, his sudden death, the lack of any contemporary records. His teaching about the kingdom of God is great; it could see us through our time on earth. But his followers watered it down and soon lost it altogether. It became a kingdom in heaven for the few, rather than one here and now for everyone. The Church, or Churches, that resulted became increasingly irrelevant, even a hindrance, to seeing it realized. Many will always find security and truth in the traditions that developed, and good for them. But for those who can't, for those who have given up on religion or never thought it worth considering, the original teachings are worth another look. If we could recover them and live by them, we could change ourselves and the world for the better. We could bring God up to date.
