Book Synopsis A NATION ONCE UNDER GOD by : Josef Herz
Download or read book A NATION ONCE UNDER GOD written by Josef Herz and published by Covenant Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2021-06-05 with total page 143 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Nation Once Under God is an observation and illustration of the changes that have transpired in America since 1960. The US Congress has enacted laws contrary to the ordinary God ordained course of nature. The American Supreme Court has overruled lower court’ decisions, taking a stand against un-natural laws. These actions are reminiscent of the Nuremberg racial anti-Semitism laws of 1935-1938, which denied the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness to Jewish and Slavic people. The German government-controlled media in the 1930’s promoted Nazi Regime laws in such a positive light, that the masses could not see the dark side, but the privileged educated class saw opportunities in the promising new German Empire. Religion was sidelined, as dissenting clergy were prohibited from speaking out and were incarcerated or exterminated. Similarly, today in the US the liberal media only broadcasts a bias toward the new laws and culture twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Three generations of public-school students have been indoctrinated by liberal educators beholden to the postmodern, secular worldview of “relativism” and “the lack of moral absolutes.” Christianity being downgraded as “non-essential” in the modern culture.

Book Synopsis Understanding Humanism by : Andrew Copson
Download or read book Understanding Humanism written by Andrew Copson and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-09-30 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Understanding Humanism is an easy-to-read and informative overview of the beliefs, practices, and values of humanism as a non-religious worldview. This short and lively book explores humanism both as a broad historical tradition of thought and as a stance embodied in organised institutions. It sets out clearly and systematically the beliefs and values of humanism as well as the reality and personal experience of living as a humanist today. Questions discussed in this book include: How do humanists see the relation between science and religious belief? Is humanism wedded to science as the only valid form of knowledge? What value do humanists place on the arts, and can they value religious art? Does the emphasis on human responsibility depend on an untenable belief in 'free will', and is this undermined by psychology and neuroscience? Do humanists think that life is sacred? What account would humanists give of the basis of human rights, and why they are important? Does humanism entail that human life is meaningless and pointless? Can humanists meet the challenge of nihilism? Understanding Humanism provides a reliable and easily digestible introduction to the field. By exploring these questions and inviting readers to engage with the arguments, it serves as the ideal textbook for those approaching the topic of humanism for the first time.

Download or read book Secular Humanism written by Paul F. Kisak and published by . This book was released on 2017-08 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: " Humanity Without Politics, Religion, Dogma or Ritual "Secular humanism embraces the common humanity of the human race. In general, Secular Humanism promotes human reason, ethics, social justice, and philosophical naturalism while specifically rejecting religious dogma, supernaturalism, pseudoscience, and superstition as the bases of morality and decision making. Secular humanism posits that human beings are capable of being ethical and moral without religion or a god. It does not, however, assume that humans are either inherently evil or innately good, nor does it present humans as being superior to nature. Rather, the humanist life stance emphasizes the unique responsibility facing humanity and the ethical consequences of human decisions. Fundamental to the concept of secular humanism is the strongly held viewpoint that ideology-be it religious or political-must be thoroughly examined by each individual and not simply accepted or rejected on faith. Along with this, an essential part of secular humanism is a continually adapting search for truth, primarily through science and philosophy. Many secular humanists derive their moral codes from a philosophy of utilitarianism, ethical naturalism, or evolutionary ethics, and some advocate a science of morality. This book is designed to be a state of the art, superb academic reference work and provide an overview of the topic and give the reader a structured knowledge to familiarize yourself with the topic at the most affordable price possible. The accuracy and knowledge is of an international viewpoint as the edited articles represent the inputs of many knowledgeable individuals and some of the most current knowledge on the topic, based on the date of publication.
