The content is divided into three main parts: Part I, on the research scope of PolSAR, addresses the underlying theory and system design, polarimetric SAR interferometry (PolInSAR), compact PolSAR, and calibration of PolSAR. Part II, which focuses on information processing, highlights the new theories and methods used in PolSAR, such as statistical properties analysis for images, speckle reduction, image enhancement, polarimetric target decomposition, and classification of PolSAR target detection. In turn, Part III, on the applications of polarimetric SAR, discusses the geophysical parameter retrieval of PolSAR data, polarimetric interferometric SAR information processing, compact polarimetric interferometric SAR information processing, and the effects of terrain tilt in azimuth direction on PolSAR data. The book provides a comprehensive and systematic guide to the system, integrating theory and practice, and has a highly application-oriented focus. Presenting new theories, methods and achievements made in polarimetric microwave imaging in recent years, it offers a valuable asset for researchers, engineers and scientists in the area of remote sensing and radar imaging. It can also be used as a reference book for university educators and graduate students.

Book excerpt: The 2014 International Conference on Information GIS and Resource Management (ICGRM2014) was held in Guangzhou, China, from January 3 to January 5, 2014. ICGRM2014 aims to bring researchers, engineers, and students to the areas of GIS and Resource Management. ICGRM2014 features unique mixed topics of Computer Science, Earth Science, Surveying and Mapping, and Resources and Environment Science in the context of building healthier ecology and environment. The conference will provide a forum for sharing experiences and original research contributions on those topics. The proceedings of ICGRM2014 tends to collect the up-to-date, comprehensive and worldwide state-of-art knowledge on GIS and resource management. All of accepted papers were subjected to strict peer-reviewing by 2-4 expert referees. The papers have been selected for this proceedings based on originality, significance, and clarity for the purpose of the conference. The selected papers and additional late-breaking contributions to be presented will make an exciting technical program on conference. The conference program is extremely rich, featuring high-impact presentation. We hope this conference will not only provide the participants a broad overview of the latest research results on GIS and resource management, but also provide the participants a significant platform to build academic connections. The Technical Program Committee worked very hard to have all papers reviewed before the review deadline. The final technical program consists of 57 papers which are divided into four sessions. The proceedings were published as a volume in by DEStech publishing Inc

Book excerpt: The development of effective methodologies for the analysis of multi-temporal data is one of the most important and challenging issues that the remote sensing community will face in the coming years. Its importance and timeliness are directly related to the ever-increasing quantity of multi-temporal data provided by the numerous remote sensing satellites that orbit our planet. The synergistic use of multi-temporal remote sensing data and advanced analysis methodologies results in the possibility of solving complex problems related to the monitoring of the Earth's surface and atmosphere at different scales. However, the advances in the methodologies for the analysis of multi-temporal data have been significantly under-illuminated with respect to other remote sensing data analysis topics. In addition, the link between the end-users' needs and the scientific community needs to be strengthened. This volume of proceedings contains 43 contributions from researchers representing academia, industry and governmental organizations. It is organized into three thematic sections: Image Analysis and Algorithms; Analysis of Synthetic Aperture Radar Data; Monitoring and Management of Resources.

This book was released on 2006-02-02 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aquatic coastal zone is one of the most challenging targets for environmental remote sensing. Properties such as bottom reflectance, spectrally diverse suspended sediments and phytoplankton communities, diverse benthic communities, and transient events that affect surface reflectance (coastal blooms, runoff, etc.) all combine to produce an optical complexity not seen in terrestrial or open ocean systems. Despite this complexity, remote sensing is proving to be an invaluable tool for "Case 2" waters. This book presents recent advances in coastal remote sensing with an emphasis on applied science and management. Case studies of the operational use of remote sensing in ecosystem studies, monitoring, and interfacing remote sensing/science/management are presented. Spectral signatures of phytoplankton and suspended sediments are discussed in detail with accompanying discussion of why blue water (Case 1) algorithms cannot be applied to Case 2 waters. Audience This book is targeted for scientists and managers interested in using remote sensing in the study or management of aquatic coastal environments. With only limited discussion of optics and theory presented in the book, such researchers might benefit from the detailed presentations of aquatic spectral signatures, and to operational management issues. While not specifically written for remote sensing scientists, it will prove to be a useful reference for this community for the current status of aquatic coastal remote sensing.

Book excerpt: This book systematically discusses the basic concepts, theories, research and latest trends in image fusion. It focuses on three image fusion categories – pixel, feature and decision – presenting various applications, such as medical imaging, remote sensing, night vision, robotics and autonomous vehicles. Further, it introduces readers to a new category: edge-preserving-based image fusion, and provides an overview of image fusion based on machine learning and deep learning. As such, it is a valuable resource for graduate students and scientists in the field of digital image processing and information fusion.
