Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The oldest of three brothers who were raised by a single mother, Mike Broomhead got his first job by the time he was twelve. On his own by sixteen, he eventually earned his GED and, with dreams of being a cowboy, he moved to Arizona to become a bull rider. “The first time you ride and you get to that eight-second whistle it doesn’t matter which bull or what your fear is—you feel 10 feet tall. It is the best feeling of accomplishment, because it’s terrifying,” according to Mike. In 2003, Mike received a phone call that changed his life forever. He learned his brother Thomas was one of two soldiers killed and nine soldiers injured in Iraq on Memorial Day. Following his brother’s death, it became Mike’s mission to tell his brother’s story as well as the stories of all those who protect our freedoms. In just a few years, Mike went from calling into a local radio show to hosting the #1 morning drive show in Phoenix, as well as being a popular public speaker, TV host, and frequent guest host for Glenn Beck. In If You’re Gonna Be Dumb, You Better Be Tough, Mike shares common-sense lessons from his blue-collar roots, his many bull riding injuries, and broadcast career to help you succeed in life and business.

The man had set out with his wife and kids on the difficult Pinhoti Trail, but once the wife and kids headed back, the man continued on. When he didnt return, his wife panicked and called in the search squadwho eventually found a man in his fifties, weighing about three hundred pounds, wearing leg braces, and using crutches. This story just goes to show that if youre gonna be stupid, youve gotta be tough. Author Bob Cole knows all about it. He grew up on a farm in rural Georgia and used to have to chase cows before getting on the bus for school. Smelling like manure in front of the other kids certainly added a bit of toughness. Since those days, he has worked, married, and seen the world, but through it all, the old adage about toughness and stupidity still holds true. This collection of true short stories follows Bob as he travels along the bumpy road of life. Follow him through a midlife crisis, family hijinks, meeting a new son-in-law, and on a mission trip to foreign lands (after all, stupidity is worldwide). Despite some hard timesand some tough decisionsBob Cole has never lost his sense of humor, and its apparent in this collection that will keep readers laughing, crying, and actin tough!

Book excerpt: Changed From Scoundrel to Servant is the story of a young boys journey to manhood. Traveling the country, his experiences include gripping stories of adventure, mischief, pain and amazing grace. Life Is a Story! We are told that who we become is controlled by where we are born, parenting, genetics, and socio-economic conditions. Ah, but another factor overcomes all those influences when the writing of our story is turned over to the Master Story Writer. Changed is that kind of story - a great read - of a scoundrel who became a servant. Steve Saint missionary, author, founder of ITEC and son of martyred missionary Nate Saint

Book excerpt: This book was written in jail the old fashion way with pens and paper. I usually write simple gospel songs, but I had six months to serve so why not write a book. The Great Ark is political fiction with a little prophecy thrown in for spice. The story is not about my own case and is not a story taken from real life. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead is unintended and unwanted. I live in Roanoke, Virginia, with my lovely wife of 40 years and our adult son Shawn. Most of my time is spent at a small public charity called the Gospel Caf where I serve as director. We have open mic gospel sings on Friday and Saturday nights and work in cooperation with local food pantries. Dinner is at six and singing starts at seven so you have been officially invited. This book in dedicated to the liberty of free men, the rule of law and the changing of Virginias new Civil Commitment laws. Thank you for reading The Great Ark, may God bless you and yours. T.C. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: SURVIVAL It's true! There are no great people. There are only great challenges that some ordinary people must rise to meet. Much has been written about those individuals who have risen to meet such challenges. Their stories fascinate us because we love a winner, a survivor, a hero. PEACE IN THE RED ROCK VALLEY is an alcoholic's own gripping yet hilariously heartwarming story of survival. It is a story of the tragedy and heartbreak and of the humor and mirth of an unexpected diversion into, the journey through and finally, recovery from an incessant, merciless, yet subtle and almost fatal addiction to a drug that happens to be called alcohol. It is an entertaining expos of the bizarre workings and ravaging power of the alcoholic mind left unchecked and of the surprising simplicity of recovery from such a demoralized state. It'll have you laughing and then it will invade your heart. Because of the stigma attached, not many of our stories have been told but with today's open-mindedness toward addiction, those of us who have survived it might just also be heroes. There is one thing for certain; our stories are definitely fascinating.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When I was in rehab, I mentioned to a counselor that I was an aspiring writer. She suggested I write a memoir and specifically suggested I include details about rehab and recovery; she said, "There are tons of books about addiction and tons of self-help books about recovery, but not very many memoirs written by addicts that share their journey through recovery." At three years sober, someone close to me said, "You've been able to help yourself, and that's good, but good people help themselves, and great people help other people. If you could find a way to tell your story, that would be great." My book describes the personality traits and character defects that began my journey into drug and alcohol abuse, the gradual decline of my mental and physical health over fifteen years of addiction and over a decade of recovery. It also describes the process of finding a home group in twelve-step programs and finding a sponsor, both of which I feel are integral to success in the transition from early to long-term recovery, and I describe the reintegration process with both my spouse and my immediate family. My story needs to be told because it's a bit less exorbitant and appalling than other popular stories and different from the way addicts are typically portrayed in movies and television. Most addicts are not homeless, jobless, and friendless; they are quietly imploding at the behest of those closest to them and unbeknownst to nearly everyone else. We, as a society, are moving into an era of awareness and action regarding mental health; it's finally okay to admit we need help. However, many addicts and alcoholics use a worst-case scenario as a metric for the progression of their illness and convince themselves they need not pursue solutions to their addiction and mental health, often until it's too late. I hope if they hear a middle-of-the-road, white-collar journey like mine, they will proactively take action to save themselves, their marriages, and their relationships with their children and their families before the consequences become so dire that they lose them entirely.
