Book excerpt: The ten research papers presented at the June 1999 workshop belong to one of four topics: three-dimensional shape recovery, calibration and structure from motion, image-based modeling using photometry, and image-based modeling of dynamic scenes. Among the paper titles are the impact of dense range data on computer graphics, gauge invariance in projective 3D reconstruction, illumination-based image synthesis under novel viewing conditions, and the synthesis and recognition of biological motion patterns based on linear superposition of prototypical motion sequences. Book Synopsis Image-Based Rendering by : Heung-Yeung Shum
Download or read book Image-Based Rendering written by Heung-Yeung Shum and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-05-26 with total page 425 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Focusing exclusively on Image-Based Rendering (IBR) this book examines the theory, practice, and applications associated with image-based rendering and modeling. Topics covered vary from IBR basic concepts and representations on the theory side to signal processing and data compression on the practical side. One of the only titles devoted exclusively to IBR this book is intended for researchers, professionals, and general readers interested in the topics of computer graphics, computer vision, image process, and video processing. With this book advanced-level students in EECS studying related disciplines will be able to seriously expand their knowledge about image-based rendering.

Download or read book Tissue Optics written by Valery Tuchin and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 988 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This third edition of the biomedical optics classic Tissue Optics covers the continued intensive growth in tissue optics—in particular, the field of tissue diagnostics and imaging—that has occurred since 2007. As in the first two editions, Part I describes fundamentals and basic research, and Part II presents instrumentation and medical applications. However, for the reader’s convenience, this third edition has been reorganized into 14 chapters instead of 9. The chapters covering optical coherence tomography, digital holography and interferometry, controlling optical properties of tissues, nonlinear spectroscopy, and imaging have all been substantially updated. The book is intended for researchers, teachers, and graduate and undergraduate students specializing in the physics of living systems, biomedical optics and biophotonics, laser biophysics, and applications of lasers in biomedicine. It can also be used as a textbook for courses in medical physics, medical engineering, and medical biology.

Book Synopsis Geometric Invariance in Computer Vision by : Joseph L. Mundy
Download or read book Geometric Invariance in Computer Vision written by Joseph L. Mundy and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 568 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These twenty-three contributions focus on the most recent developments in the rapidly evolving field of geometric invariants and their application to computer vision. The introduction summarizes the basics of invariant theory, discusses how invariants are related to problems in computer vision, and looks at the future possibilities, particularly the notion that invariant analysis might provide a solution to the elusive problem of recognizing general curved 3D objects from an arbitrary viewpoint. The remaining chapters consist of original papers that present important developments as well as tutorial articles that provide useful background material. These chapters are grouped into categories covering algebraic invariants, nonalgebraic invariants, invariants of multiple views, and applications. An appendix provides an extensive introduction to projective geometry and its applications to basic problems in computer vision.
Book Synopsis Three-dimensional Computer Vision by : Olivier Faugeras
Download or read book Three-dimensional Computer Vision written by Olivier Faugeras and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 1993 with total page 712 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph by one of the world's leading vision researchers provides a thorough, mathematically rigorous exposition of a broad and vital area in computer vision: the problems and techniques related to three-dimensional (stereo) vision and motion. The emphasis is on using geometry to solve problems in stereo and motion, with examples from navigation and object recognition. Faugeras takes up such important problems in computer vision as projective geometry, camera calibration, edge detection, stereo vision (with many examples on real images), different kinds of representations and transformations (especially 3-D rotations), uncertainty and methods of addressing it, and object representation and recognition. His theoretical account is illustrated with the results of actual working programs.Three-Dimensional Computer Vision proposes solutions to problems arising from a specific robotics scenario in which a system must perceive and act. Moving about an unknown environment, the system has to avoid static and mobile obstacles, build models of objects and places in order to be able to recognize and locate them, and characterize its own motion and that of moving objects, by providing descriptions of the corresponding three-dimensional motions. The ideas generated, however, can be used indifferent settings, resulting in a general book on computer vision that reveals the fascinating relationship of three-dimensional geometry and the imaging process.
