Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A central question in the debate on justice in immigration is whether immigrants have a right to stay; this book argues that liberal-democratic receiving states should also grant migrants a right not to stay. This claim runs against the presumption that migrants always desire to move on a permanent basis and intend to forge a completely new life in the country of destination. From this perspective, temporary migration is always a second-best option for migrants, engendered by the closed and often punitive migration policies of receiving countries. This book's innovative focus on the right not to stay is prompted instead by the realization that increasing numbers of migrants throughout the world conceive and plan their migratory experience as circumscribed in time and instrumental to goals and projects that they will pursue once back in their country of origin. These temporary migration projects are worthy of being accommodated by the receiving states as much as the migratory plans of those who resolve or aim to immigrate on a permanent basis. Accommodating them entails setting up the appropriate welfare measures and programs in the host country and, through bi-lateral agreements, in the country of return. This is especially important in view of the fact that very often the migrants who engage in temporary migration projects find themselves in a condition of high vulnerability and risk. The "right not to stay" advocated in this book is a positive and substantive right to see one's project of temporary migration-and-return protected and accommodated by institutions.

Book excerpt: A sweeping novel of politics, war, philosophy, and adventure–in a restored edition, featuring never-before-published material from Gore Vidal’s original manuscript–Creation offers a captivating grand tour of the ancient world. Cyrus Spitama, grandson of the prophet Zoroaster and lifelong friend of Xerxes, spent most of his life as Persian ambassador for the great king Darius. He traveled to India, where he discussed nirvana with Buddha, and to the warring states of Cathay, where he learned of Tao from Master Li and fished on the riverbank with Confucius. Now blind and aged in Athens–the Athens of Pericles, Sophocles, Thucydides, Herodotus, and Socrates–Cyrus recounts his days as he strives to resolve the fundamental questions that have guided his life’s journeys: how the universe was created, and why evil was created with good. In revisiting the fifth century b.c.–one of the most spectacular periods in history–Gore Vidal illuminates the ideas that have shaped civilizations for millennia.

Book excerpt: Only once did David Foster Wallace give a public talk on his views on life, during a commencement address given in 2005 at Kenyon College. The speech is reprinted for the first time in book form in THIS IS WATER. How does one keep from going through their comfortable, prosperous adult life unconsciously' How do we get ourselves out of the foreground of our thoughts and achieve compassion' The speech captures Wallace's electric intellect as well as his grace in attention to others. After his death, it became a treasured piece of writing reprinted in The Wall Street Journal and the London Times, commented on endlessly in blogs, and emailed from friend to friend. Writing with his one-of-a-kind blend of causal humor, exacting intellect, and practical philosophy, David Foster Wallace probes the challenges of daily living and offers advice that renews us with every reading.

This book is for housewives, professionals, mums, and real women who are seeking the answer to the questions such as "Why don't I feel right anymore?" or "How can I age so that I look and feel great?" I like to help people find the answer and change their life for the better. Now is the time to 'put yourself first', get your life back, love the body you're in, and age well, just like me. About the Author A personal fitness trainer who specializes in training women, I am now also a lifestyle blogger and the creator of Keep Life Simple. I have two successful yoga videos to my credit, the beginner's Yoga Breath is Life and the intermediate Yoga Breath is Life II. A divorce in 2012 lead to a journey of reinvention in every aspect of my life, and when an email to a healthy living magazine complaining about the lack of fit photos of women over 40 turned into a headline-making article, the inspiration for Keep Life Simple was born. I feel great. Age, for me, has become just a number. I have found my fountain of youth and now I am excited to share my experiences and more with you. Now is your time to feel great too.
