It cannot be too strongly insisted upon that the popular association of the hypno-magnetic sciences with Spiritualism is incorrect and misleading. Spiritualism, by its very nature, is less of a science than a religion for it demands, from its adherents, an act of faith; discourages investigation; and asks for disciples rather than critics.
