Scientific hypnosis has made great advances particularly since World War II, both as part of basic psychological science concerned with the understanding of brain, mind, and personality and as a professional skill in which knowledge of hypnosis is used to serve human welfare by enhancing the quality of life for those who have the good fortune to benefit from hypnotherapy and the related practice of hypnoanalysis. The reader is brought abreast of these developments through the arrangement of the chapters into two sections of the book, with the first four chapters explaining the basics of hypnosis as an altered state of consciousness interpreted theoretically from several points of view.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In today's managed mental health care environment, clinical hypnosis has become popular as a tool for alleviating symptoms promptly. This book is about using ideomotor (IM) signals in the rapid hypnoanalysis of psychosomatic disorders. The technique of rapid hypnoanalysis addresses the whole brain and places the feeling back into brief therapy without removing the logic or the efficiency. It offers a refreshing alternative that allows therapists to go deeper while being even briefer. Part I covers basic concepts and principles. The value, principles, and treatment planning of hypnoanalysis are discussed, including special intake questions and how to set up ideomotor signals. Part II covers basic applications of rapid hypnoanalysis and illustrates their employment. The seven common causes of psychosomatic disorders, ideomotor applications to Direct Suggestion in Hypnosis (DSIH), hypnotic preparation and care of the surgical patient, self-hypnosis, and treating the cognitive and emotional components of persistent pain are examined. Part III presents clinical transcripts of cases to illustrate the actual uses of the technique with psychosomatic patients. These transcripts explore the technique with a complex smoking cessation patient, a simple smoking recall session, a one-visit cure of a hypersensitive scar, and a workshop demonstration session with an asthma patient. This is a "how-to" book that provides numerous case examples and illustrations showing specifically how ideomotor analysis techniques are used. Book excerpt: The scope of Erika Fromm's profound contributions to the clinical and research literature in hypnosis and related areas is reflected in this volume, which consists of chapters written by those who have worked closely with the noted psychologist and/or have been significantly influenced by her. The subject matter presented here ranges from detailed accounts and personal observations relating to Fromm's distinguished career, to some very new and valuable data on the psychophysiological correlates of hypnosis, the phenomenology of self-hypnosis, and an integrative model for short-term therapy. Several extensions of clinical technique for the treatment of trauma and severe psychopathology are also discussed. Professional therapists with an interest in personal growth, self-awareness, and creative mastery, whether or not they already have an interest in hypnosis, will derive significant benefits from this book. Readers who have previously eschewed hypnosis may find that this volume stimulates an interest that enriches their clinical practice and/or research.

Book excerpt: Hypnosis: Advanced Techniques of Hypnotherapy and Hypnoanalysis. Analytical Hypno-psychotherapy gains its strength from the fact that it is more flexible and more interactive than straightforward hypnoanalysis. We can work with a wider variety of psychological conditions and can even achieve positive results when working with the logical and analytical client. It is more interactive than hypnoanalysis, more flexible than 'direct regression' and allows the skilled worker enormous access to the individual workings of the client's psyche. We can work with people in their sixties and seventies, logical and analytical clients, individuals who are 'hypnophobic' or 'hypno-incapable', even those who strenuously seek to avoid confrontation with whatever trauma has caused their presenting problem. We can even work with those who have not experienced any trauma but are, in the words of the late C.G. Jung, "Suffering only from the problems of living." Conventional hypnoanalysis often appears to fail - usually because the therapist has not the training to recognise that he or she is using it for the 'wrong' type of symptom or the 'wrong' sort of client, more of which later. Hypnoanalysis is a relatively brief therapy, when taking into account the type of problem for which it is normally employed as a work methodology. The problem is that the oft-quoted 'eight to ten sessions' format is really only applicable when working within certain parameters - and there are many clients and their presenting problems who fall outside these guidelines. The advantage of the work methodology that we are looking at here is that it is far more versatile; its disadvantage is that we are not looking at a truly brief therapy here - we are looking at getting the client better and the timescale is going to vary enormously according to the client personality type and presenting difficulty. In any case, a conscientious therapist should completely ignore the "I can fix that in two sessions, what on earth are you doing?" brigade - therapy should never be a race. It is the emotional health and wellbeing of the client that is important, not the ego of the therapist. If you are looking for the "next level" of hypnotherapy, you have found it here. Experience the journey with Terence Watts.

Book excerpt: In an age of expanding scientific exploration and an ever-deepening understanding of the human condition, our approach to healthcare is evolving at an unprecedented pace. The journey towards advanced treatments for complex genetic syndromes demands a multidisciplinary exploration that delves into uncharted territories of healing, spanning from the physical to the metaphysical. This book, "Advanced Treatment for Klinefelter Syndrome: Apometry, NLP, Regression, and Hypnosis," seeks to navigate the intricate landscape of alternative therapies and their potential in reshaping the future of healthcare. Focusing on Klinefelter syndrome—a genetic condition that challenges those it touches—we embark on an intellectual odyssey that blends conventional medical knowledge with unconventional yet promising methodologies. At the core of our exploration lies apometry—an approach that embraces energy, consciousness, and holistic healing. Through the pages of this book, we'll journey into the world of apometry, unraveling its intricacies and examining its applications in addressing the complexities of Klinefelter syndrome. We'll discover how this technique can harmonize with neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), regression, and hypnosis to offer a comprehensive framework for healing, touching not only the physical body but also the mind and spirit. We'll delve into the techniques and practices that constitute apometry and allied methodologies, offering a guide for those who seek to understand, apply, and potentially benefit from their integration. As we explore the depths of these therapies, we'll address questions, provide step-by-step guides, and offer insights into their potential impact on individuals living with Klinefelter syndrome. Moreover, this book transcends the boundaries of medical treatment, venturing into realms of consciousness, spirituality, and beyond. It reflects on the potential of these therapies in fostering personal growth, inner exploration, and a profound connection with one's own healing journey. "Advanced Treatment for Klinefelter Syndrome: Apometry, NLP, Regression, and Hypnosis" is not just a book; it's an invitation to challenge the norm, to question the established, and to embrace the potential of the unknown. It is a resource for medical professionals, therapists, patients, and curious minds alike, offering a panoramic view of the possible intersections between science, metaphysics, and the art of healing. As we embark on this transformative journey, let us open our minds to the possibilities that lie ahead—possibilities that might reshape our understanding of health, genetics, and the inherent capacity for healing that resides within each of us.

Book excerpt: In the ever-evolving landscape of medical science and holistic wellness, the quest to enhance the quality of life for individuals facing genetic conditions has led to innovative explorations of alternative therapies. "Advanced Treatment for Down Syndrome (Trisomy 21): Apometry, NLP, Regression, and Hypnosis" embarks on a journey into uncharted territories where conventional medicine meets complementary modalities, exploring the intersection of genetics, consciousness, and healing. This book delves into the delicate realm of Down syndrome, a genetic condition caused by an extra chromosome 21, challenging individuals and families to navigate a unique path of challenges and triumphs. Our exploration is driven by the genuine belief that knowledge is empowerment. We present an array of perspectives, ideas, and potential therapies that may complement traditional medical interventions. It's essential to emphasize that the intention behind this book is to foster an open-minded dialogue among various disciplines. We understand that genetic conditions like Down syndrome are complex and multifaceted, requiring a comprehensive approach that considers both the physical and emotional aspects of those affected. Throughout the chapters, we explore concepts such as Apometry, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Regression, and Hypnosis, probing how these modalities might play a role in the broader spectrum of therapies. We acknowledge that these methods might not be universally embraced by the medical community, but we believe in their potential to enrich the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and their families. However, we firmly underscore that medical decisions should always be made in consultation with healthcare professionals. While we delve into alternative approaches, we do so with respect for the foundations of medical science and the need for rigorous research and ethical consideration. As you embark on this reading journey, we encourage you to approach each page with curiosity and an open heart. We invite you to engage critically and compassionately, absorbing the information while recognizing the complexity and nuances inherent in discussing genetic conditions and holistic wellness. We extend our gratitude to the experts, practitioners, and families who shared their insights and experiences, enriching the narrative and contributing to a more comprehensive understanding of the subjects explored within these pages. May this book serve as a bridge between the realms of genetics, alternative therapies, and conscious exploration, offering perspectives that inspire and empower those who seek a more holistic approach to Down syndrome and its challenges.

Book excerpt: Psychotherapy is a scientifically proven form of treatment, and neuroscience has justified hypnosis as a convenient method to train our minds to change our brains. However, hypnosis remains widely misunderstood. This volume clears up many misconceptions surrounding the practice by exploring it as a part of psychodynamic psychotherapy. In this context, hypnosis involves the activation of the patient's fantasy to create a new inner reality of the self, so that this reality can take the place of the old one for personal enrichment of the individual. Presenting new evidence from neuroscience and the ancient wisdom of Buddhism and detailing many short case studies, this work reveals the essence of hypnosis and demonstrates the benefits of this often misunderstood mind activity.
