Download or read book Human Factors in Aviation written by Eduardo Salas and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2010-01-30 with total page 747 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fully updated and expanded, the second edition of Human Factors in Aviation serves the needs of the widespread aviation community - students, engineers, scientists, pilots, managers and government personnel. Offering a comprehensive overview the volume covers topics such as pilot performance, human factors in aircraft design, vehicles and systems and NextGen issues. The need for an up-to-date, scienti?cally rigorous overview is underscored by the frequency with which human factors/crew error cause aviation accidents, pervasiveness of human error in safety breakdowns. Technical and communication advances, diminishing airspace and the priority of aviation safety all contribute to the generation of new human factors problems and the more extensive range of solutions. Now more than ever a solid foundation from which to begin addressing these issues is needed. New edition thoroughly updated with 50% new material, offering full coverage of NexGen and other modern issues Liberal use of case examples exposes students to real-world examples of dangers and solutions Website with study questions and image collection

This book was released on 1960 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report is an annotated bibliography of research pertaining to the human factor problems associated with high-speed low-altitude flight. The primary objective of this research project is to provide a compilation of abstracts of studies concerned with the effects of prolonged high-speed low-altitude flight on aircrew performance. Most of the human factor problems involved in this type of flight regimen result from the vibration and buffeting produced by gust loads, the acceleration forces produced by terrain avoidance, motion sickness resulting from complex flight motions, and the overburdening of visual and psycho-motor processes from an awareness of the insidious nature of human or mechanical failure. There has been no direct systematic research on the human factor problems associated with high-speed low-altitude flight. Thus, for the most part, the studies included in this bibliography are indirectly concerned with this type of flight operation. They are pertinent, however, in that they are concerned with human performance under conditions involving some of the specific characteristics of such flight. Areas of research such as vibration, acceleration, motion sickness, flight or simulator performance, visual performance and stress are related to the present problem. This bibliography is not intended to represent an exhaustive search of any one or more of the above areas. It is selective in that it included only those studies that are particularly pertinent to the problems of high-speed low-altutude flight.
