Download or read book Biomag 96 written by Cheryl J. Aine and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 1218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A modified Linear Estimation Approach was performed to reconstruct current sources within the heart. Based on MRI data sets the Boundary Element Method was used to create tailored multicompartment models of the human thorax which were used to solve the forward problem of magnetocardiography. The ability of the proposed method was demonstrated for the localization of a single current dipole as an example of a focal source. By means of introducing small shiftings to all reconstruction dipoles during linear estimation solution as well as performing a successive focussing strategy ignoring places without significant electrical activity the method could easily be extended to the reconstruction of real 3D sources. Based on a special minimum-norm solution the source volume can be estimated applying a finite element approximation using cube elements. The size of an extended current source can be estimated by superimposing the reconstructed dipoles to an equivalent dipole and comparing the corresponding volume with the sphere which would be related to the equivalent dipole. The deviation of these volumes can be taken as a criterion for non-dipolarity of sources.

Book Synopsis Coronal Magnetometry by : Sarah E. Gibson
Download or read book Coronal Magnetometry written by Sarah E. Gibson and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2017-07-11 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Magnetism defines the complex and dynamic solar corona. It determines the magnetic loop structure that dominates images of the corona, and stores the energy necessary to drive coronal eruptive phenomena and flare explosions. At great heights the corona transitions into the ever-outflowing solar wind, whose speed and three-dimensional morphology are controlled by the global coronal magnetic field. Coronal magnetism is thus at the heart of any understanding of the nature of the corona, and essential for predictive capability of how the Sun affects the Earth. Coronal magnetometry is a subject that requires a concerted effort to draw together the different strands of research happening around the world. Each method provides some information about the field, but none of them can be used to determine the full 3D field structure in the full volume of the corona. Thus, we need to combine them to understand the full picture. The purpose of this Frontiers Research Topic on Coronal Magnetometry is to provide a forum for comparing and coordinating these research methods, and for discussing future opportunities.

Book Synopsis Advances in Experimental Mechanics VIII by : Richard L. Burguete
Download or read book Advances in Experimental Mechanics VIII written by Richard L. Burguete and published by Trans Tech Publications Ltd. This book was released on 2011-08-18 with total page 500 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume of Applied Mechanics and Materials contains the papers presented at the joint 2011 Annual British Society for Strain Measurement Conference and the 2011 Fall Society for Experimental Mechanics Conference. This is the first time that the two societies have held their conferences together. However, it is the sixth time that the papers from an Annual British Society for Strain Measurement Conference have been published as a collection in a volume of Applied Mechanics and Materials. Volume is indexed by Thomson Reuters CPCI-S (WoS). The 82 papers in this volume reflect the diverse nature of Experimental Mechanics, with the emphasis placed on Integrating Simulation and Experimentation for Validation. The papers come from both academia and industry, with more than half of the contributions originating from outside the UK; thus indicating the international flavour of this event.
