Speak with the Dead also details the more traditional methods of seance, trance, and scrying. You don't have to be a "techie" or an occultist to use any of these techniques. This book will guide you to one of the most awe-inspiring experiences you'll ever have - making contact with deceased loved ones and other souls. Book excerpt: Unmarked graves are found on the grounds of an old orphanage in this “riveting” British crime thriller by an Edgar Award finalist (Publishers Weekly, starred review). With profiler Tony Hill behind bars and Carol Jordan no longer with the police, he’s finding unexpected outlets for his talents in jail and she’s joined forces with a group of lawyers and forensics experts looking into suspected miscarriages of justice. But they’re doing it without each other; being in the same room at visiting hour is too painful to contemplate. Meanwhile, construction is suddenly halted on the redevelopment of an orphanage after dozens of skeletons are found buried at the site. Forensic examination reveals they date from between twenty and forty years ago, when the nuns were running their repressive regime. But then a different set of skeletons is discovered in a far corner—young men from as recent as ten years ago. When newly promoted DI Paula McIntyre discovers that one of the male skeletons is that of a killer who is supposedly alive and behind bars—and the subject of one of Carol’s miscarriage investigations—it brings Tony and Carol irresistibly into each other’s orbit once again in this masterfully plotted novel by “the queen of psychological thrillers” (Irish Independent).

Speaking of telepathy and the general philosophy of what a spirit is constituted of, it carefully straddles rationalism and spiritualism. This occult work is one part how-to guide to communicating with the spirits of the dead, one part philosophical tract, and one part view to theory and practice that was then hotly debated, trying to clear up what Sciens feels are misconceptions held by mystics of his age.

Book excerpt: Now working homicide, Wager lands a gruesome case in the botanic garden Homicide cops are always suspicious of the drug enforcement division, so when ex-narcotics detective Gabe Wager arrives on the murder squad, his first assignment is the graveyard shift. His new commanding officer hopes that the late shift will keep Wager out of trouble, and give him a chance to learn the byzantine regulations that govern murder investigations. But two days later, a call comes in just after dawn reporting a death at Denver’s botanic gardens. Wager could leave it for the morning shift, but he is hungry to prove himself, and legs it over to the scene of the horrid crime. The young woman’s head has been left inside the gardens, her body nowhere to be found. Without any way of identifying her, Wager is stuck without a lead. But when her torso surfaces in a junkyard, he begins the slow grind of finding the murderer who dismembered this once beautiful model.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is there life after death? What happens on the other side? Is it possible to contact those who have already passed away? These are usually the questions people have in mind about life after death. Sometimes, you think grief gets in the way of your judgement. You don't know if you're just hallucinating or letting your imagination run wild. You have this inner conflict where you end up keeping these experiences to yourself. Otherwise, your friends or family might just stare at you with wide eyes. Back in the days, civilizations have long believed in an afterlife. People in almost every culture think that it is indeed possible to communicate with the dead. Throughout the ages, many have reported that they have been able to speak with their dearly departed. Even in classic literature, communication with ghosts and spirits frequently shows up. In a 2014 news poll, it is said that three out of four people believe there's something after death. Many have sensed and received signs from their loved ones after passing. The idea that the living can make contact with the spirits of those who have passed over is popular today primarily because of the modern "channeling" trend, which is considered part of the "New Age" movement stemming from Hinduism, Buddhism and other traditions. However, it is also important to understand everything about after-death communication to deal with the departed souls in the right manner.

Book excerpt: In late medieval Catholicism, mourners employed an array of practices to maintain connection with the deceased—most crucially, the belief in purgatory, a middle place between heaven and hell where souls could be helped by the actions of the living. In the early sixteenth century, the Reformation abolished purgatory, as its leaders did not want attention to the dead diminishing people's devotion to God. But while the Reformation was supposed to end communication between the living and dead, it turns out the result was in fact more complicated than historians have realized. In the three centuries after the Reformation, Protestants imagined continuing relationships with the dead, and the desire for these relations came to form an important—and since neglected—aspect of Protestant belief and practice. In Speaking with the Dead in Early America, historian Erik R. Seeman undertakes a 300-year history of Protestant communication with the dead. Seeman chronicles the story of Protestants' relationships with the deceased from Elizabethan England to puritan New England and then on through the American Enlightenment into the middle of the nineteenth century with the explosion of interest in Spiritualism. He brings together a wide range of sources to uncover the beliefs and practices of both ordinary people, especially women, and religious leaders. This prodigious research reveals how sermons, elegies, and epitaphs portrayed the dead as speaking or being spoken to, how ghost stories and Gothic fiction depicted a permeable boundary between this world and the next, and how parlor songs and funeral hymns encouraged singers to imagine communication with the dead. Speaking with the Dead in Early America thus boldly reinterprets Protestantism as a religion in which the dead played a central role.

Book excerpt: Mira Brokojeff is a medium-someone who is able to communicate from the physical world into the world of spirit, where all of our departed loved ones return. Mira spent the majority of her life unaware of her gifts, even though there were signs and odd happenings all the way through her youth, that foreshadowed her mission to come. In this book, she shares with humour and compassion her life's journey so far, taking the reader through experiences which include growing up in a religious cult and dealing with depression, substance abuse and loss within the family. The death of her mother was the catalyst and 'activated' her mediumship in full. Since realising what her mission is, she is approaching her gift with great care and has been training under world renowned mediums to enhance her delivery of the messages. There is also great comfort in her story, as it demonstrates that our loved ones never really die and we continue our journey on the other side of the veil, ever so close to our loved ones here on earth. Part memoir, part guide, she hopes reading her life story will open your eyes to how you see death, hopefully help with dealing with loss and grief and potentially help you with your own journey on learning how to speak to dead people, like a total badass.
