Book Synopsis Cashing in on a Second Home in Mexico by : Tom Kelly
Download or read book Cashing in on a Second Home in Mexico written by Tom Kelly and published by eBookIt.com. This book was released on 2014-10-10 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After nearly a decade of work in Mexico insuring real estate properties to foreign purchasers, the same issues always seem to surface regarding second home acquisitions: "If I buy a house in Mexico, don't I get a 99-year lease from the government?" "I understand that I can buy a residence in Mexico only if the title is vested in a Mexican corporation." "I didn't think Americans could own Mexican beachfront properties." All of these suppositions are incorrect. This book attempts to help clarify and explain why Mexican real estate, when using the proper safeguards, can be a terrific, secure investment. It will also explore the purchasing mistakes of the past, summarize several of the attractive new locations that are luring foreign dollars and explain why Mexico is so eager to welcome second home buyers from outside its borders. The worst thing a potential purchaser can do is to remain ignorant of the law and procedures involved in the conveyance of real estate in a foreign country. As we state several times in this book, Mexico is not the perceived "Wild West" where anything goes and the prevailing Mexican attitude is "trust me, no problema." It is inherently important for non-Mexican buyers to understand that Mexico has formality of law with authorized regulation of real estate development procedures at all levels. This process is coupled with a statutory government framework for the legal conveyance of real property. Great personal wealth has been attained through real estate ownership, but for most of us, it has been limited to investment in a primary residence. Although Mexican real estate also can be a viable investment venue, Americans have had a great deal more trepidation considering properties "south of the border." And for good reason--considering the history of some acquisitions. Given today's investment climate, however, Mexico provides an attractive, alternative arena for potential investment. Real estate in Mexico should have a similar appreciation "upside" as does real estate in a U.S. development--coupled with the advantage of use and enjoyment of the property as a vacation residence.

Book Synopsis Retire in Mexico - Live Better for Less Money by : Dru Pearson
Download or read book Retire in Mexico - Live Better for Less Money written by Dru Pearson and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2014-03-09 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This fourth edition, completely updated in 2014, is brimming with sound and thoughtful advice on retirement in Mexico. Everything from how to pick your location to the new residency procedure that became effective in November, 2013, is covered. If you've ever considered retirement in Mexico, please read this book first. It has the most up-to-date information that would otherwise take you months of frustration to acquire. But why Mexico? The reasons are many. Often, Americans and Canadians choose Mexico because of its proximity. Unlike most other exotic retirement locations that require lengthy plane trips, it's easy to drive back and forth to Mexico. A more important reason is that Mexico is a bargain compared to the rest of North America and Europe. Expatriates live very well, often more luxuriously than they did “back home,” on very little money. Housing is half what it costs in the States; excellent medical and dental care is startlingly inexpensive; and the government will even provide health insurance for less than $500 a year! Then, too, Mexico is rich in archaeological sites, steeped in history, and has a more exciting “foreign” culture than any place in Western Europe. There is also no denying that its delicious cuisine, stunning architecture, colonial cities, and temperate climate also play a part in people's decision. Dru isn't implying that Mexico is Shangri-La, but she thinks it is closer to paradise than any place you can find in the United States, Canada or Europe. Here in this land of majestic mountains and rolling countryside, a gentle people are willing to welcome retirees into their hearts. Expats have more time to explore other interests and develop talents because they have more freedom, better health, less stress, and fewer mundane chores. The low cost of living allows them to splurge on luxuries that would be prohibitive anywhere else and to take advantage of world-class resorts that are only a few hours´ drive away. No, the country isn't perfect, but you cannot get any closer to paradise than Mexico.
