Book excerpt: God’s plans for three women—and the small town of Hope Springs—may be bigger than anyone could have imagined. Janelle Evans hasn’t gone back to Hope Springs for family reunions since losing her husband. But when she arrives for Christmas and learns that her grandmother is gravely ill, she decides to extend the stay. It isn’t long before she runs into her first love, and feelings that have been dormant for more than a decade are reawakened. Becca Anderson is finally on the trajectory she’s longed for. Having been in the ministry trenches for years, she’s been recruited as the newest speaker of a large Christian women’s conference. But her husband feels called to become the pastor of his late father’s church in Hope Springs. Will small-town living affect her big ministry dreams? Stephanie London is married to a doctor in St. Louis and living an ideal life. When her cousin Janelle volunteers to stay in Hope Springs and care for their grandmother, she feels compelled to do the same. It’s a decision that will forever change her. As these women come together, they soon recognize that healing is needed in their hearts, their families, and their churches that have long been divided along racial lines. God’s plan for them in Hope Springs—and for Hope Springs itself—is bigger than they ever imagined. “Kim Cash Tate draws us into a world where the dreams, desires, missteps, and matters of the heart we discover mirror our own. Book excerpt: A drought has settled in the area around the orphanage where Boniface lives. There are long line-ups at the tiny spring where all the local people get their water, and suddenly the orphans are pushed to the back of the line, unwelcome. Boniface's houseparent, Henry, tells him that the people were mean out of fear--they feared there would not be enough water for their families. When the building of the orphanage's well is completed, Boniface has an idea to help the villagers. A lovely story of kindness and heart, this story shows that, through compassion and understanding, true generosity can spring from unexpected places.

Book excerpt: "This was a fabulous, fantastic, best ever Christmas book. WOW!" -Advance reader She's a fixer... He's about as broken as they come... Can they learn to turn to God for healing and hope this Christmas? Leah has always been a fixer. That's why she decided to foster a troubled teen. And it's why she's determined to give him the perfect Christmas. It might also be why she feels compelled to reach out to her grinchy, reclusive neighbor Austin. But she'll have to be careful that reaching out doesn't turn into something more--she's been hurt by crossing the line from friendship to romance once, and she's not willing to let it happen again. After losing his leg, his friend, and his faith in Afghanistan, Austin figures he's about as broken as they come. For Austin, Hope Springs is simply a stopping point--a place to rehabilitate his leg, get over the burden of his PTSD, and get back into shape to redeploy. He has no desire to get to know anyone while he's here, least of all the meddlesome--if sweet--woman next door. But when she calls on him to help her make Christmas special for her foster son, something compels him to relent. Soon, his heart belongs to both of them. But what if Austin is too broken for even Leah to fix? Can the two of them learn to turn to God for hope and healing--and maybe even a chance at love--this Christmas? Not Until Christmas Morning is a heartwarming Christian romance filled with faith, love, and the reminder to trust God "even if." *** "Not Until Christmas Morning is such an inspiring and uplifting book that you won't want to wait until Christmas to read it! I loved this story of how God can make something beautiful out of broken people and their painful circumstances. If you've ever been angry with God about the suffering in your life or the lives of loved ones, then this book will give you hope. Highest recommendation!" -Advance reader *** While the books in the Hope Springs series are linked, each features a complete romance about a different couple and can be read in any order.

Yet the price of Russian bonds remained high for years. Combing French archival records, Kim Oosterlinck shows that, far from irrational, investors had legitimate reasons to hope for repayment. Soviet debt recognition, a change in government, a bailout by the French government, or French banks, or a seceding country would have guaranteed at least a partial reimbursement. As Greece and other European countries raise the possibility of sovereign default, Oosterlinck's superbly researched study is more urgent than ever.

This book was released on 2012-07-01 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Minor Prophets are those dozen Old Testament books that, in the time of Jesus, were usually written on one scroll since they were all fairly brief. The late Elizabeth Achtemeier prepared the New International Biblical Commentary on the first six: Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, and Micah. This second volume deals with the final six books. John Goldingay writes on Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, and Haggai; Pamela Scalise takes on the longest, Zechariah, and the last, Malachi. Like the authors of other volumes in the NIBC, Goldingay and Scalise utilize what is referred to as "believing criticism" when examining the biblical texts. Based on fidelity to critical analysis and sensitivity to the faith of both ancient and contemporary readers, this balanced approach enriches both the academy and the church. Following the series guidelines, the authors clearly explain the texts with additional notes regarding interpretation and "practical" reflection. For example, Goldingay issues a reminder that when the prophets spoke against the arrogance and sins of Assyria and Babylon, the Israelites needed to hear the word of God as a caution against their own pride and wickedness. He goes on to suggest that modern readers must remember, as well, that the same attitudes and actions that led to the downfall of these ancient Middle East empires can fall upon any and all who follow their example. The New International Biblical Commentary offers the best of contemporary scholarship in a format that both general readers and serious students can use with profit. Based on the widely used New International Version translation, the NIBC presents careful section-by-section exposition with key terms and phrases highlighted and all Hebrew transliterated. A separate section of notes at the close of each chapter provides additional textual, linguistic, cultural, and technical comments. Each commentary also includes a selected bibliography as well as Scripture and subject indexes.
