Book Synopsis Poems from My Patmos by : Gary Richards
Download or read book Poems from My Patmos written by Gary Richards and published by CrossBooks Publishing. This book was released on 2010-09 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A single verse written at three in the morning from a jail cell, describing a life of hopelessness; this is how Poems from my Patmos began. Then, with the help of regular nighttime whisperings from the Holy Spirit and a few musically inclined cellmates, it grew into a collection of poetry named for the island on which St. John wrote his divinely inspired book of Revelation. Resounding with hope, faith, love, and mercy, Poems from my Patmos is sometimes humorous, sometimes serious, but always abundant with Christ's message of love. The first part, steeped distinctly in spiritual themes and biblical references, provides a poignant contrast to the second, which springs from author Gary Richards's musings on such topics as youth and aging, love and war, and life in prison. Those experiencing pain and loneliness, or grappling with issues of faith, may sink their anchors at "The Bay of Hope," feel "[t]he romance of redemption," or pray, "Lord make me as/Strong as the Palm/Who's roots are long and deep When the hurricane comes." Neither does Richards neglect those at rock bottom, as he provides rest in the kindred knowledge that "You'll never know that Jesus is all you need/Until Jesus is all you have." By the end, his overriding message that surrendering all to Christ is the only way to joy will touch readers under all circumstances and walks of life, as they will come away convinced that this is nothing less than truth.

Book Synopsis Prophetic Poetry by : Patricia Johnson
Download or read book Prophetic Poetry written by Patricia Johnson and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I went to a Salvation Army dinner with some of the staff of our church and came out knowing something had happened to me spiritually! The next morning, in my devotions, singing “In My Life Lord Be Glorified,” I heard, “I am glorified.” It was the beginning of my poetry. In the first poem He gave me, I realized He had birthed in my heart a ministry of missions. My mission field is wherever the Lord places me. I love sharing Jesus with everyone, but my special love is young people. I’ve been blessed to spend much time with the Lord, sitting at His feet, in worship and praise, which what much of this poetry is about. Many are about sharing Jesus with the lost and the importance of salvation. They show His love and compassion for each and every one of us in different ways. One shows the Lord’s sense of humor, in that it’s about how the Lord defeated the Devil through the Cross at Calvary. Most are prophetic and about winning the lost to Jesus. Remember, as you are reading and being blessed, Jesus loves each and every one of you so much, He shed His blood and died on the cross at Calvary for all of our sins. He’s resurrected, hallelujah, and seated at the right hand of God the Father, interceding for all who have been saved and are His! Praise God!
Book Synopsis The Soul's Resting Promises by : Lorraine M Mares
Download or read book The Soul's Resting Promises written by Lorraine M Mares and published by . This book was released on 2016-03-31 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: GOD DOES NOT BREAK HIS PROMISES The Soul's Resting Promises is a collection of poems and prose that will encourage the reader to spend time alone with God and to develop a relationship with the creator of all things. The Lord desires to spend time with us, so that we can learn and grow to love Him and enjoy the blessings He has for us - especially His gift of salvation. Each poem touches on the magnitude and greatness of God in a slightly different way. Sometimes it is pure worship - rejoicing in His presence. Sometimes it is a witness - a proclamation to the world of His eternal benevolence. The Soul's Resting Promises is water for the thirsty soul, and it is a small, finite contribution to the Infinite Love. "Some books die before they are born. Others live a short time. This book brings comfort to the hungry soul. "Jesus said, 'In my Father's house are many rooms.' God can be trusted and He will never disappoint us, and the author Lorraine Mares again wonderfully depicts God's comfort to those who love Him in The Soul's Resting Promises." - William G. Brafford Jr., Senior Pastor Valley Community Church, El Monte, California "I recommend to all hearts The Soul's Resting Promises, a book of poems and prose inspired by the Holy Spirit and written by sister Lorraine Mares. It has substance and will be of great value to the open minds and seeking hearts searching for God's peace and direction." - Pastor Peter Simon Turko, President of God's Love Ministries and former Director of African Affairs
Book Synopsis Poetry Inspired by the Bible by : Wanda L. Gauthney
Download or read book Poetry Inspired by the Bible written by Wanda L. Gauthney and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2021-10-20 with total page 87 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Like most people in the world, 2020 finds me in the midst of a worldwide pandemic. Inspired by the Word of God and how God has something to say about every situation, I began to write seventy-five poems. It was February when the Holy Spirit prompted me to write God's Word in poetry, and needless to say, 2020 did not find me with nothing to do while in the house, wanting to follow the rules. I have been saved, born again, for thirty-two years. I am a native-born Philadelphian and attend the Bethany Missionary Baptist Church. I love serving the Lord and serving people (i.e. Helping Hand Rescue Mission, women in prison, ushering, and more). My life verse is Matthew 5:16: "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." While reading the first five verses in Joel 1, Wanda began to write. Nothing like This Has Ever Happened Before God gave a message to the prophet to say "listen," everyone See what's happening all around while you are still having fun It came upon the land quickly with a mighty and destructive force Tell your children, everyone, everywhere has been thrown off course Not in our time or your parent's time have we ever seen this before We ask when will it end, how long can it go on each day more and more Everyone, wake up including those who partied too hard and went to sleep Cry out and mourn, like it or not, you're on the wagon, now it is time to weep The virus will attack you no matter who you are, red, brown, black, or white Take heed and realize the seriousness of the situation, we can't win this fight All are closed, restaurants, gyms, malls, nail salons, barber shops, no relief And with virtual doctor's appointments, we pray nothing happens to our teeth We must seek to sense God's purpose for what is happening in the world today Only the Holy Spirit can help us to know what we should do before it all slips away

Book Synopsis Poems to Jesus Christ by : Kassi Ydris
Download or read book Poems to Jesus Christ written by Kassi Ydris and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2015-11-03 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The poetry collection “Poems to Jesus Christ Volume III: The Holy Spirit” is about the spiritual journey of a man’s soul through his discovery of his gift for writing poetry when he experienced a spiritual awakening while he was teaching poor people in Asia. The poet went through a three-year-long depression trying to understand what God wanted him to do with his life after his return to America. The following poems were inspired during this rebirth of his talent, which brought out the best of his gift for poetry while making his faith in God stronger. This book completes the poet’s spiritual journey and his promise to Jesus Christ to write three books of spiritual poetry as a thank-you gift to Jesus Christ, God, and the Holy Spirit for always being by his side and saving his life so many times and helping him get out of his depression. The first book described to God the pain of the world, sadness, and sorrow. The second book included more happier and optimistic prayers written in poetic form. The third book completes the circle of happiness and evolution of the poet’s return to the world and to happiness, focusing on the beauty of life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With every great writer, there came an initial spark of inspiration. Often, this spark ignites a fire that has the potential of being a raging inferno. Such was the case of this book, From Glory to Glory, which took nearly four decades to write and compile. The initial spark came in 1967 and did not turn into a blazing fire until the year 2000. By then, the author realized that writing was a God-given talent and was a calling in his life. It was then that he fully embraced that truth. Listening

Download or read book David's Crown written by Malcolm Guite and published by Canterbury Press. This book was released on 2021-01-29 with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As well as the name of a virus, a corona is a crown, the pearly glow around the sun in certain astronomical conditions and a poetic form where interlinking lines connect a sequence. It is the perfect name therefore for this new collection of 150 poems by the bestselling poet Malcolm Guite, each one written in response to the Bible’s 150 psalms as they appear in William Coverdale’s timeless translation. The Psalms express every human emotion with disarming honesty, as anger and thankfulness alike are directed at God. All of life is here with its moments of beauty and its times of despair and shame. Like the Psalms themselves, the poems do not avoid the cursing and glorying over the downfall of your enemies, but wrestle honestly with them as we do when we come to say them.
