Das sieht man an den Bildungsdiskursen, die momentan im Umlauf sind. Ist es besser, ein Kind acht oder neun Jahre auf dem Gymnasium zu unterrichten? Fühlt sich ein Kind überfordert, wenn es direkt nach der Grundschule eine weiterführende Schule wählen muss? Diese Probleme bestehen schon für die Normalbegabten unserer Gesellschaft, wie sieht es dann mit den anderen aus? Leistungsschwächeren Schülern stehen viele Hilfeprogramme zur Verfügung, von der Nachhilfe bis hin zur Förderklasse. Doch wie ist es mit der anderen Seite? Lange war man der Auffassung, hochbegabte Schüler haben keine Probleme in der Schule und können sich aufgrund ihres Potentials sehr gut selbst helfen. Doch das ist falsch, hochbegabte Kinder brauchen Hilfe. Sie müssen in einem passenden sozialen Umfeld aufwachsen und brauchen die Unterstützung ihrer Eltern und Lehrer, damit sie sich ohne Persönlichkeitsschäden entwickeln können. Hochbegabte Kinder sind anders als andere Kinder und merken das spätestens in der Schule auch selbst. Um ihr Selbstwertgefühl zu erhalten und um nicht in die Außenseiterrolle gedrängt zu werden, brauchen Hochbegabte besondere Fördermaßnahmen. Doch wie fördert man Hochbegabung angemessen? Ich habe mich näher mit dieser Frage beschäftigt und dabei Eliteschulen, die ausschließlich für Hochbegabte zugänglich sind und integrative Schulen, in denen alle Kinder gemischt sind, verglichen. Außerdem stelle ich als Praxisbeispiel die CJD Christophorusschule Königswinter vor, die in einer integrativen Methode Hochbegabte fördert.

Im Zusammenhang mit meiner zukünftigen Tätigkeit als Lehrer empfinde ich es als sehr hilfreich und notwendig, mich mit dem Phänomen der Hochbegabten auseinanderzusetzen. Um den weitreichenden Anforderungen an der Schule gerecht werden zu können, benötige ich unter anderem auch Kenntnisse zu diesem prekärem Thema. Ich hoffe, damit einen kleinen Beitrag zur Verbesserung der Lage und das Verständnis, welches Hochbegabten entgegengebracht werden muss, leisten zu können. Seit Jahrhunderten schon haben talentierte und begabte Menschen großen Anteil am Erkenntnisstand und Fortschritt unserer Gesellschaften.
