Book excerpt: A love story set against the backdrop of Restoration England, Jacobite Scotland and Ireland, and the rise and fall of kings, by an award-winning author. Amidst the upheaval of the first Jacobite war in 17th century Britain, Jamie Sinclair's wit and military prowess have served him well. Leading a troop in Scotland, he impetuously marries a captured maiden, saving her from a grim fate. A Highlands heiress to title and fortune, Catherine Drummond is not the friendless woman Jamie believed her to be. When her people effect her rescue, and he cannot annul the marriage, Jamie determines to recapture his hellcat of a new wife. In a world where family and creed cannot be trusted, where faith fuels intolerance and war, Catherine and Jamie test the bounds of love, loyalty, friendship, and trust...

Book excerpt: “The Queen of Highlander time-travel romance”(Midwest Book Review) brings you the second in her irresistibly sensual Scottish Highlands series... Present day: He's music’s hottest pop idol, a Celtic bad boy whose tradition-drenched rock rules the charts. But Ian MacGregor is truly timeless—he hails from 18th century Scotland. And nothing can make him return to the ruthless father who despised him...except going back in time to save a certain blue-eyed lassie for whom he’d risk everything... 1734: Ellie Graham works as Ian MacGregor’s tour manager just to be near the hunky Scottish rock star, hiding her feelings behind a no-nonsense façade. She refuses to love and lose again. But when a magical carving sweeps her almost 300 years into the past and into the treacherous clutches of the Black Watch, Ellie will have to open her heart to save herself, the future...and one dangerously passionate Highland Rebel.

Book excerpt: Her time is nearly out . . . To claim her inheritance, Fiona MacCarran must marry a wealthy Highlander, and soon. Arriving in the misty Highlands as a schoolteacher, she despairs of finding an acceptable groom . . . until she meets Dougal MacGregor. She knows he's just a smuggler, and yet when the handsome laird pulls her into his arms, she forgets about obligations, the law, and finding that perfect Highland groom. He must save his clan . . . Moving his finest whiskey—and fast—is the only way Dougal can protect his people. It should be simple, but nothing is easy with Fiona MacCarran around. He cannot allow himself to be distracted by the sensual schoolmistress. After all, a Highland rebel and a law-abiding lass could never have a future together . . . or could they? Soon they are caught in a battle between honor and desire, with the only victory lying in sweet, sweet surrender.

Stubborn as the day is long, fearless and dedicated to raising as much hell as possible, Helen is definitely going to challenge Marcus. And challenge him some more. And then some. It's anyone's guess who'll win this battle of the heart... Praise for Highland Spitfire: "Wine always gets the heart of the history, atmosphere, and traditions of the Highlands... Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During its struggle for survival from 1954 to 1975, the region known as the Central Highlands was the strategically vital high ground for the South Vietnamese state. Successive South Vietnamese governments, their American allies, and their Communist enemies all realized early on the fundamental importance of this region. Paul Harris's new book, based on research in American archives and the use of Vietnamese Communist literature on a very large scale, examines the struggle for this region from the mid-1950s, tracing its evolution from subversion through insurgency and counterinsurgency to the bigger battles of 1965. The rugged mountains, high plateaus, and dense jungles of the Central Highlands seemed as forbidding to most Vietnamese as it did to most Americans. During 1954 to 1965, the great majority of its inhabitants were not ethnic Vietnamese. Ngo Dinh Diem’s regime initially supported an American counterinsurgency alliance with the Highlanders only to turn dramatically against it. As the war progressed, however, the Central Highlands became increasingly important. It was the area through which most branches of the Ho Chi Minh Trail passed. With its rugged, jungle-clad terrain, it also seemed to the North Vietnamese the best place to destroy the elite of South Vietnam's armed forces and to fight initial battles with the Americans. For many North Vietnamese, however, the Central Highlands became a living hell of starvation and disease. Even before the arrival of the American 1st Cavalry Division, the Communists were generally unable to win the decisive victories they sought in this region. Harris's study culminates with an account of the campaign in Pleiku province in October to November—a campaign that led to dramatic clashes between the Americans and the North Vietnamese in the Ia Drang valley. Harris's analysis overturns many of the accepted accounts about NVA, US, and ARVN performances.
