Book Synopsis High Temperature Furnace System B-208-R by : Robert C. Marshall
Download or read book High Temperature Furnace System B-208-R written by Robert C. Marshall and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report describes the design, installation, calibration and test of one of the high temperature crystal growing furnace systems of the Solid State Sciences Laboratory of the Air Force Cambridge Research Laboratories. A number of the modifications and innovations that make this system unique are described. Pictures and diagrams of the furnace and associated apparatus and component specifications are sufficiently complete to provide substantial aid in the operation or duplication of this facility. The furnace has been operated above 2800C for short periods of time (hours) and above 2000C for extended periods (days). It has been in operation for over a year and more than 50 separate experiments have been conducted. (Author).
Book Synopsis A HYDRAULICALLY OPERATED LABORATORY FURNACE WITH RESISTANCE THERMOMETER TEMPERATURE CONTROL. by :
Download or read book A HYDRAULICALLY OPERATED LABORATORY FURNACE WITH RESISTANCE THERMOMETER TEMPERATURE CONTROL. written by and published by . This book was released on 1952 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A high-temperature, rapid-loading furnace was constructed for study of small specimens in a controlled atmosphere. The furnace muffle consists of a vertical 36-in.-long, 1.5-in.-diam Zircotube; the tube is necked down at the upper end to fit the tubing for gas supply. This muffle is surrounded by 8 Globar heating elements placed in a circle inside an 8-in. fire-clay muffle which is surrounded by light MgO. These components are contained in a metal drum 21.5 in. high and 18 in. in diam. The furnace also has a hydraulic lifting device and an automatic temperature controller. Introduction of a sample at elevated temperatures does not affect the temperature of the furnace. The apparatus is easily and rapidly manipulated by 1 man.

Book Synopsis Precision Control of High Temperature Furnaces Using an Auxiliary Power Supply and Charged Practice Current Flow by :
Download or read book Precision Control of High Temperature Furnaces Using an Auxiliary Power Supply and Charged Practice Current Flow written by and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two power supplies are combined to control a furnace. A main power supply heats the furnace in the traditional manner, while the power from the auxiliary supply is introduced as a current flow through charged particles existing due to ionized gas or thermionic emission. The main power supply provides the bulk heating power and the auxiliary supply provides a precise and fast power source such that the precision of the total power delivered to the furnace is improved.
Book Synopsis A Laboratory-scale Continuous-feed Resistance Furnace by :
Download or read book A Laboratory-scale Continuous-feed Resistance Furnace written by and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 4 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A laboratory-scale continuous-feed furnace was constructed and its performance was evaluated. Heating in this type of furnace is effected by a current passing through a continuously flowing mixture of carbon and ore in an inert atmosphere. Theoretically, temperatures in excess of 3000 degrees C are attainable, but the available materials of construction limit the maximum temperature to 1800 degrees C. During a limited number of experiments, temperatures of the order of 1300 degrees C were easily achieved but, at temperatures above 1300 degrees C, rapid fluctuations in temperature due to poor control resulted in cracking of the refractory. However, this problem can be overcome by the use of a superior type of controller. It is suggested that a laboratory-scale continuous-feed furnace of this type can be developed into a useful tool for high-temperature metallurgical and mineralogical studies.
