Download or read book Mission Beyond Darkness written by Lt.-Comdr. J. Bryan III and published by Pickle Partners Publishing. This book was released on 2015-11-06 with total page 121 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE concluding phase of the First Battle of the Philippines occurred on June 19, 1944. Late that afternoon, United States Navy planes from Task Force 58 attacked a Japanese fleet. They sank one carrier and four tankers, probably sank another carrier, another tanker and a destroyer, and damaged several other ships. Our losses were ninety-six planes and forty-nine men. Vice-Admiral Marc A. Mitscher, Commander of Task Force 58, gave the order that launched the attack. The planes that delivered it were drawn from air groups based on the carriers that constituted part of his command. Air Group 16, based on his flagship, the USS Lexington, was typical of the groups participating from the larger carriers. It consisted of three squadrons: Fighting 16, equipped with F6F-3s, or Hellcats; Torpedo 16, equipped with TBM-1Cs, or Avengers; and Bombing 16, equipped with SBD-3s, or Dauntlesses. Thirty-four of Air Group 16’s planes took off that afternoon; eleven single-seater Hellcats, seven Avengers with crews of three, sixteen Dauntlesses with crews of two. The account that follows is the account of those sixty-four men. It is derived wholly from narratives by the survivors, from statements by officers and men of the Lexington’s company, and from the authors’ witness. No incident has been fabricated. No word or thought or action has been ascribed to anyone without his own authority.
Download or read book Haunted El Reno written by Tanya McCoy and published by Arcadia Publishing. This book was released on 2019-09-09 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The red brick walls of downtown El Reno have soaked up their fair share of history and sweated out an equal measure of ghosts. The town's thoroughfares carry the fondly remembered clatter of trolley cars and horse-drawn buggies, so long as travelers don't take a wrong turn around Dead Man's Curve or give a lift to the Hunchback of Route 66. The most venerable building in town is the old county jail, where the frontier town's rowdier souls still chafe in captivity. The resident spirit of the Whistle Stop Saloon is considerably more cheerful, even if she overdoes it a bit with the perfume. From the Centre Theatre to the Fort Reno Cemetery, Tanya McCoy and Whitney Wilson catalogue El Reno's most fascinating haunted lore.

Book Synopsis It's My Money and I'll Cry If I Want To by : Glen Carlsen
Download or read book It's My Money and I'll Cry If I Want To written by Glen Carlsen and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2000-04 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is a serious lack of conservative books with a sense of humor. This book fills that gap. I’ve always hated the assumption that Democrats and big unions represent the average working man. Wrong. As a carpenter, I demand the freedom to keep more of my own money to help my OWN family, rather than see the government steal it, waste it, and give a little bit back in the name of “caring.” I’m trying to create a future for myself, but the government is trying to create dependency. And they are doing it with MY MONEY!
Download or read book The Brexit Tapes written by John Bull and published by Unbound Publishing. This book was released on 2023-01-05 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Brextorians had long suspected that at the time of the Brexit negotiations, a series of audio recordings were made by and of government officials. In the year 3563, their suspicions were confirmed with the discovery of the first cache of tapes: conversations in the halls of Westminster and in private residences, secretly recorded in direct contravention of privacy laws. In The Brexit Tapes, the transcripts of these recordings are published for the very first time. Compiled by leading Brextorian John Bull, they offer a remarkable insight into the lost years from the Referendum to the Second Dark Age, and a clear picture of the events leading up to the civil war that followed. Directly challenging the accounts of Brexit provided in The Book of Mogg and Lord Johnson’s Res Brexitica, these transcripts are our first concrete record of history as it happened and, for the modern reader, a way to finally understand one of the most tumultuous periods of British history.
