Book Synopsis Operations and Basic Processes in Steelmaking by : Luis Felipe Verdeja González
Download or read book Operations and Basic Processes in Steelmaking written by Luis Felipe Verdeja González and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-03-24 with total page 516 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the operations and industrial processes related to the production of steel. The chapters cover the second part of the iron and steelmaking process, called steelmaking, presenting the stages of the process until obtaining the finished steel product in different formats for distinct applications. This book reports significant operating variables of the processes and basic operations of the steelmaking. The chapters contain numerous solved exercises conceptually supported on the thermodynamic and kinetic fundamentals of the production of steel from the pig iron in the Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF) and the production of steel and ferroalloys in Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF). The thermal and mechanic fundamentals of the hot rolling operations and the mechanical fundamentals of the cold rolling, forming, and wire drawing to obtain different steel products are also reported. The book summarizes the strengths and uncertainties of steel as a structural material.
Book Synopsis Heat Treater's Guide by : Harry Chandler
Download or read book Heat Treater's Guide written by Harry Chandler and published by ASM International. This book was released on 1996-01-01 with total page 690 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The material is contained in more than 500 datasheet articles, each devoted exclusively to one particular alloy, a proven format first used in the complementary guide for irons and steels. For even more convenience, the datasheets are arranged by alloy groups: nickel, aluminum, copper, magnesium, titanium, zinc and superalloys. The book provides very worthwhile and practical information in such areas as: compositions, trade names, common names, specifications (both U.S. and foreign), available products forms, typical applications, and properties (mechanical, fabricating, and selected others). This comprehensive resource also covers the more uncommon alloys by groups in the same datasheet format. Included are: refractory metals and alloys (molybdenum, tungsten, niobium, tantalum), beryllium copper alloys, cast and P/M titanium parts, P/M aluminum parts, lead and lead alloys, tin-rich alloys, and sintering copper-base materials (copper-tin, bronze, brass, nickel silvers).

Book Synopsis Advances in brazing by : W. Tillmann
Download or read book Advances in brazing written by W. Tillmann and published by Elsevier Inc. Chapters. This book was released on 2013-03-04 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An important brazing application is the production of cutting and machining tools. This chapter provides an overview of brazing alloys for the joining of cutting materials. Process-related problems and solutions are presented and discussed. High strength values can be achieved with the right filler alloy and joint design. Most cemented carbides consist of a hard material such as tungsten carbide and a metallic binder. Due to the high carbide content, wetting and bonding reactions have to be monitored. Addition of active elements can help to induce a wetting reaction. Brazing ceramic cutting materials requires the use of active filler alloys to achieve a wetting reaction. The chapter reviews the alloys required. A joint can be weakened by interfacial effects or mismatches in physical properties. Employing the right filler metal with an adapted brazing process can significantly improve joint quality. Stress calculations based on the finite element method contribute to better joint design with reduced stress levels.
