Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Healing Verses is a compilation of poetry and therapeutic approaches aimed at helping adult survivors of child abuse begin, or continue on their journey of recovery towards wholeness and self-empowerment. It is not a replacement for professional psychotherapy, but would likely enhance progress. In my 39-year social work career, I learned that children who were robbed of their childhoods through abuse or trauma, often spend a lifetime being revictimized at the hands of others or through their own actions, thoughts and/or addictions. They frequently live their lives having little or no control of their destiny because they continue to feel powerless over life and the people in it. Or, on the other end of the spectrum, adult survivors, are over achievers, workaholics and self-sacrificial. Few enjoy quality intimate relationships, due to guardedness, insecurities, or emotional extremes due underdeveloped emotional expression skills. The painful memories of their childhoods consume their energies and resources in the vicious cycle of trying to escape these recollections. This is a book that offers hope to its readers by acknowledging their wounds and providing a compass.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the journey of life, we encounter twists and turns, unexpected obstacles, moments of complacency and doubt, as well as beautiful peaks of joy, love, and inspiration. This collection seeks to capture the essence of life's fabric through poems focused on principles and concepts that shape us at our core. Divided into three sections, the book opens with a series of poems reflecting on the ups and downs we face, the resilience and determination to push through challenges to achieve our highest dreams. Titles like "Getting Through It to Get to It" depict the necessity of perseverance, while "I Got Through It and Got to It" celebrates the triumphs and growth that emerge on the other side. These serve as a prelude to the main body of the collection: an epic series of 52 poems titled "52 Spiritual Principles," which focuses on embracing virtues and practices to enrich our lives on the journey. Principles like surrender, honesty, courage, awareness, and love are brought to light through poetic form, connected to inspirations from everyday acts of kindness to biblical scriptures and parables. Readers can reflect weekly on absorbing these universal lessons to tap into shared sources of truth, empathy, and understanding. Finally, the book culminates with a 12-part poem sequence dramatizing the 12 Steps, the guiding philosophy for recovery from life's darkest moments back into light. The final piece offers a holistic take on the collection, reminding us while life's terrain may continually change, the journey centered in courage and spiritual growth never ends. This collection offers readers many access points for self-reflection, whether focusing on one thing that resonates or soaking up all inspiration. It is the myi⁸ hope that, among these pages, readers discover not only empathy but ignite that inner spark to persevere through all manner of twists and turns, wherever the road of life leads next.

Book excerpt: This book provides professionals, as well as students, with the understanding that Social Entrepreneurship and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) are now core business principles for sustainably. It encourages social entrepreneurs in their role as forerunners, in creating new business models that develop, facilitate or implement constructive solutions to social, cultural and environmental issues. At the same time, this book views corporate social responsibility as a means of challenging existing entities to realize and modify prior unsustainable and predatory business models; and to increase social, cultural and environmental accountability. By linking these two concepts, this book prompts a paradigmatic awakening, whereby the foundational driver of business creation and management no longer rests on profit maximization, but on improvement of the quality of life for society.

Book excerpt: The Bible teaches us', Russ Parker writes, 'that blessing is a unique ministry resource gifted to believers to effect the purposes of God in peoples' lives.' In this enthralling book, the author tells of situations of family estrangement, depression and chronic illness; of times of hopelessness and helplessness where miraculous transformation has been wrought through calling on God to bless someone with the richest blessing they are able to receive. As he has travelled the country teaching on the ministry of blessing, Russ has seen an enthusiastic response and uptake, especially amongst those involved in prayer ministry. He believes it is time for all who want to be part of God's renewal - both in church and through reaching out to the wider community - to consider how we might help others to flourish as the people God has called them to be. 'Russ Parker's ground breaking work on healing community history will be so helpful to churches. It has greatly helped me.' The Rt Revd Graeme Dow, former Bishop of Carlisle
