God had a plan for each of them and gave them exactly what they needed to live in Africa. He knew the warthog would need 2 sets of tusks and cheetahs would have to go without water for days. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Warning: If you’ve ever owned a dog, you should enjoy the following book. This book contains 321 cartoons which hopefully will make you smile, chuckle, and perhaps wet yourself (assuming you are older like me!) In my first book “Did You Ever Wonder – Thinking Outside My Box,” my cartoons and their topics were fairly random – sort of like “stream of conscientiousness” writing. This book starts out in a somewhat similar fashion but does eventually develop a couple of story lines. In the early part, you’ll be introduced to a number of characters but the bulk of the book will focus on Spike, Chico, and Grandpaw. Initially I considered splitting this material into two separate books but didn’t think there was enough “meat” for both books to stand or squat separately. The last thing I wanted to do with a dog story is not have enough “meat” in it. If I didn’t, I’d have all the “doggie” lovers out there howling for my blood not to mention begging for more treats! Regardless, these cartoons were written with the intent of brightening your day! So take off you game face, relax, and let the sunlight enter! JAN PS – Dogs like young children enjoy having stories read to them too! Please don’t make them beg!

Why is the color blue used for boys? Why do worms come out onto sidewalks after a rain? Why do chefs wear tall hats? Everyone knows that . . . . . . Donuts have holes . . . We clink glasses before saying a toast . . . Golfers yell “fore!” before teeing off . . . We not our heads yes and shake our heads no But how many of us know why? You'll learn the answers and a whole lot more in this fun and fact-filled almanac. And all you have to do is ask WHY?!

Book excerpt: Is Your Job Making You “Stupid”? Adam Smith, author of The Wealth of Nations, once wrote that a person who spends his life performing the same repetitive tasks “generally becomes as stupid and ignorant as it is possible for a human creature to become.” Wow! Now that’s not a pretty picture. Unfortunately, much of our work today consists of those boring, repetitive tasks. But maybe you’re one of the many who have gotten caught up in thinking work is just something you do to support your weekends. Work is that necessary evil, a means to an end, or just a curse from God. You probably take your role of providing for yourself and those depending on you seriously. But you don’t expect to enjoy your work—you just do what has to be done. Only now you’re seeing that even loyalty and dependability bring no guarantees. Lately you’ve seen coworkers who have been let go after years of faithful service. Perhaps your entire industryhas been shaken by outsourcing or changing technology. Maybe you’re tired of the long commute and being tied to your desk when you know you could make your own hours and still be productive. You may have ideas stirring that you think could create new income and time freedom. But here comes another Monday. Maybe feeling trapped is just the reality of the way things are. Doesn’t everyone dread Mondays? Doesn’t every responsible person just bury their dreams and passions in exchange for getting a paycheck? Absolutely not! All of us, no matter how old we are or what kind of work we’re doing, can learn to bring the same excitement to our jobs that we bring to whatever we love to do on our days off. I believe that each one of us can pursue work that is a reflection of our best selves—a true fulfillment of our callings. No More Mondays will show you that meaningful work really is within your grasp. And once you’ve opened the door and seen all the exciting career opportunities that await you—whether you decide to revolutionize your current job or launch a new career altogether—you’ll find you can’t go back to the old way of working.” From No More Mondays For everyone who dreads going to work on Monday mornings, inspiring advice on how to find fulfilling work in an uncertain age. Do you hate Mondays? If so, what's keeping you at your current job? If you said a steady paycheck and the promise of a secure retirement, then you're in for a big disappointment. In today's volatile economy, there is nothing safe about punching the clock for a job you hate. As beloved talk-show host and bestselling author Dan Miller reveals, the only way to find true security is by following your calling and then finding or creating work that matches that calling and passion. No More Mondays’s practical, inspirational advice speaks to people looking for guidance on how to launch a new career or business, those who want to stay in their current jobs and give the old 9-to-5 model a twenty-first-century makeover, and managers desperate to understand the way people want to work today. For all of them, Dan Miller's message is loud and clear: If you're one of those people who dread going to work on Mondays, do something about it!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ross Holmes was born in St. Petersburg, Florida 1921. Born from above at 21, he walked with the Lord Jesus Christ many years and was led to record what he had learned from the Bible. He asked the Lord, Who ever heard of me? Im a nobody. Yet he decided to leave his writings with the Lord to do as He pleased with them. An aeronautical engineering student, he joined the Army Air Corps when WWII started and became an Instructor Pilot for B-24s. He was saved through the witness of his landlady while stationed in Waco, Texas in 1942. With an avid interest in the Bible, Brother Ross was led to attend Bob Jones University after the war to study Greek and Hebrew. After graduation, Mr. Holmes was called to the mission field and was led to St. Vincent, BWI in 1952, and was instrumental in starting the Baptist Bible College of the Caribbean. It has been in operation since 1958. A passion for souls also led him to Dominica and Madagascar. On one of his returns from the mission field in 1959, Bible classes were taught, leading to the eventual organization of Central Baptist Church in Eden, NC; at the same time, he was called by the Lord to found a church in Logtown, Va. while also ministering to inmates in Rockingham County Jail. During his latter years, the prison ministry in Winston-Salem was among his top priorities after moving there. Before going home to be with the Lord, 2010, most of Ross Holmes days were spent reading and studying Gods Word in Greek, Hebrew and English. He believed and applied Acts 17:11: searching the Scriptures daily whether those things were so. And Isa. 1:18, Come now, and let us REASON together, saith the Lord . . . .

Book excerpt: Your infant is crying and you don’t know why. Your toddler refuses every kind of food–except one. Your preschooler wages war with you each morning over what to wear. Every day, parents struggle unsuccessfully to understand why their children act the way they do. Now child development expert Priscilla J. Dunstan breaks down those barriers to understanding with this revolutionary and accessible guide that teaches a new way of parenting–custom-designed for each child’s personality. The product of eight years of groundbreaking research, this book will help you understand how your child interacts with the world. Dunstan begins from the premise that every child has his or her own dominant sensory “interface” with the world. Some children are highly sensitive to touch, others to sound or to sight. And some are unusually sensitive to all outside stimuli, especially taste and smell. This sensitivity affects how your child behaves, learns, and communicates from the very first days of life. Uncovering your child’s dominant sense–and knowing what your own dominant sense is–is essential for finding common ground and creating bonds of trust and intimacy with your child. Use this book to • take comprehensive “sense tests” to determine your child’s dominant sense–and your own • understand how sensory overload plays out from infancy to age five, at home and in school • learn why your child’s sensory personality shapes the way he or she instinctively reacts to new experiences and people • appreciate the richness of your child’s emotional life, and help your child thrive in the outside world For every parent who has ever looked at a child’s behavior and thought What is he trying to tell me?, Child Sense shows you how to find the answer.
