The packaging for the action figures reads, "for children ages 5+," even though they all come with guns. Through this project the artists examine the breeding of a culture of violence in young boys, who are invited to author violent scenarios before they can even read.

Book excerpt: Embodying Black Experience is an interdisciplinary work of cultural history and theory that looks at present-day effects of past experiences of the black body through the performances of various artists and athletes, including boxer Muhammad Ali, playwright Suzan-Lori Parks, and choreographer Bill T. Jones, as well as artists and photographers. Harvey Young does close readings of these performances and offers what he calls a "third space between racial essentialism and racial pluralism" by engaging with a number of critical and theoretical debates, expanding on the writings of Stuart Hall, Henry Louis Gates, and Homi Bhabha. In so doing, he also challenges the work of Paul Gilroy, while incorporating the theories of Fanon, Merleau-Ponty, Lacan, and Bourdieu. Harvey Young is Assistant Professor of Theatre, Performance Studies, and Radio/Television/Film at Northwestern University.

Gantt Center for African-American Arts+Culture, Charlotte, NC; Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, DC; Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, New York; and New Frontier exhibition at Sundance Film Festival, Park City, Utah. The Question Bridge Project includes various platforms, an interactive website and mobile app, as well as community roundtable conversations and a curriculum designed for high school learners. The founding artists, along with contributions from Ambassador Andrew Young, Jesse Williams, Rashid Shabazz, and Delroy Lindo, will introduce and contextualize the body of the work and provide closing remarks on our current and future social climate.
