A mind, thus preoccupied, knows not how to withdraw. At such times, only God or a man of discrimination can help us see light. The Sanatkumaras approached Lord Brahma, the Creator, with such a problem. Lord Brahma confessed to being to preoccupied, and therefore, had no solution to offer. The supreme Lord then appeared as ‘Hamsa’ – the Swan, and gave the knowledge of the Truth. This episode of Shrimad Bhagavatam is called Hamsa Gita. The lucid commentary by Swami Tejomayananda helps us understand the problem and seek a practical solution, thereby giving us a head start towards our quest for Truth.

Book excerpt: Students of religion and Eastern thought will welcome this readable translation and practical commentary on the Uddhava Gita, a Hindu text in which Krishna's teachings introduced in the Bhagavad Gita are extended and nuanced. Krishna's Other Song: A New Look at the Uddhava Gita examines the entire Uddhava Gita in relation to other Hindu scriptures, especially the Bhagavad Gita, and shares its teachings in light of interreligious understanding and nonsectarian spirituality. This edition's elaborate commentary, written by a prominent American scholar of Hindu studies, who is also a practitioner, opens up the text's esoteric teaching to a Western audience for the first time, adding context and relevance that make the book accessible and its teachings practicable for a Western readership. A foreword, written by prominent Hinduism scholar Charles S. J. White joins the author's own introduction to lay out the Uddhava Gita's background, philosophical dimensions, and religious significance. This edition does not include the original Sanskrit, nor does it labor to translate each word verbatim. Rather, it gives the reader all 1,030 verses in plain English, offering accessible commentary that allows the meaning and relevance of the Uddhava Gita to unfold to one and all.

Download or read book The logic of Srimad Bhagwad Gita written by Pramendra Srivastava and published by Notion Press. This book was released on 2019-11-13 with total page 776 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: No one can escape Dharma, the eternal laws. Beliefs grow into actions, and action-learning converts to Sankhya, while deeper research requires meditation, i.e. Bhaktiyog, Karmyog, Gyanyog, and Dhyanyog successively. Fundamentalists never comprehend the fundamentals of religion, ironically, nor do the apostates. Ancient Rishi’s quest for survival of humanity in sync with nature forced inquiries into physical and metaphysical realms, discovering spirituality as the basis of Science, Creations and Psychology, which they coded into mythologies and symbols, only to be deciphered in times to come. Basic pillars of Sanatan Dharma, i.e. Purush, Prakriti, Brahm and Yog hide sciences. The element of ubiquitous spirit in us warns naturally. Sanatan Dharma explains ethical hierarchies, egalitarianism and utilitarianism, with intent to establish Summum Bonum. People from different culture and religions think alike due to triguna nature, which applies beyond man-made religious boundaries. Rishis searched for the truth honestly, Later politicization created today’s religions. At core, all religions are the same, and hold the key to oneness globally. Does Yoga compare to Trinity in Christianity? How Prophet Mohammad, got enlightenment while meditating in the Hera Caves? Big Bang theory of creations has a mention in scriptures, from the smallest dimensionless source to infinitely expanding universe? Lord Vishnu rests in a serpentine bed in Ksheer Sagar (or milky way); from his naval evolves Lord Brahma, the solar system, Terrestrial gods pray Him. Cosmological hierarchy is depicted as Lord Brahma Vishnu Mahesh? This book logically deciphers symbols and myths, meant to define humanity.

This book was released on 2015-05-01 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba wrote a series of articles under the Vahini series, for Sanathana Sarathi, a monthly magazine being published by Sri Sathya Sai Sadhana Trust, Publications Division, Prasanthi Nilayam. These precious articles are brought out now, under the title “Geeta Vahini”, in this book, for the benefit of readers. This is not a commentary or summary of the divine message that was given by Lord Krishna to Arjuna. It conveys the same message in a simpler form to us, in order to remove our delusion and confer faith and strength on us, so that we may realise our own reality. Bhagawan says, “Drawing on the Divine that is inherent in us is the lesson of Geeta… Arjuna is the jiva and Krishna is the Deva. When both are in contact, impregnable might results… Krishna had to work in and through Arjuna, so that the reign of Dharma (righteousness) is re-established. Arjuna means white, pure, unblemished. Hence, he is the proper instrument.” We too can become proper instruments in restoring Dharma, if we follow the lessons that Bhagawan teaches through this book.

Download or read book Bhagvad Gita written by and published by Manticore Press. This book was released on 2016-01-23 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Bhagvad Gita occupies an intermediate position between scripture and theology; for it combines the poetical qualities of the first with the clear-cut methodical nature of the second... one of the clearest and most comprehensive summaries of the Perennial Philosophy ever to have been made. Hence its enduring value, not only for India but for all mankind." ― Aldous Huxley The Bhagvad Gita (also called the Bhagavad Gita) forms a central part of the Mahabharata, the most popular epic of India. It is also part of the Bhishmaparva. The Mahabharata tells the story of the feud between the sons of Dhrutrashtra (Kauravas) and the sons of Pandu (Pandavas). The Bhagvad Gita itself is a highly philosophical narrative between Krishna and Arjuna on duty, spiritual matters, and the nature of the divine. Arjuna, faced with his duty as a warrior to fight in the war between the Pandavas and Kauravas, is instructed by Krishna to fulfill his Kshatriya (warrior) duty and follow the Dharma. The Bhagvad Gita combines the concept of Dharma with other important teachings such as Sankhya, yoga, bhakti, and detachment from the fruits of action. This version of the Bhagvad Gita is a new translation, and is Raghupati Bhatt's tenth book.

Download or read book Kashmiri Gitasara written by and published by Otam Books. This book was released on 2023-04-28 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The traditional number of verses of the Gita is defined by the teacher Sankara (788-820 CE) as being 700. However, a number of 745 verses results from the Gitamana, an inserted stanza that gives the number of verses spoken by each speaker in the Gita. The Gitamana is found mostly in Kashmirian versions of the Mahabharata, inserted directly after the Bhagavadgita, and is not found in Bengali and southern recensions. The Gitamana is placed just before the 51 verses of the Gitasara, which is the summary of the Gita. Adding the Gitasara to the Bhagavadgita extends the Bhagavadgita, and can be made to comply with the specifications given in the Gitamana. Perhaps this is the first translation into English of the Gitasara, reveals thoughts not found in the Gita and worth meditating on, even the passages that are difficult.

This book was released on 2022-02-08 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The word dharma, originally from the Sanskrit, refers to the inherent, unchanging nature of something – sugar’s dharma is to be sweet, water’s dharma is to be wet, and fire’s dharma is to emit heat and light. Dharma also refers to our natural duty. We humans have ordinary dharma and an ultimate dharma that relates to who we are at soul level. That dharma requires that we ask existential questions and then seek ultimate answers – questions such as Who am I? Why am I here? and What is my ultimate purpose? Dharma, the Way of Transcendence is a compilation of lectures on human dharma given by His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in 1972 as he toured India. Here he teaches that the dharma of all humans and every other living embodied soul – is service. No one can exist for a moment without serving someone or something else, even if it’s only the mind and senses. So the question is, whom or what can we serve if we want to be truest to ourselves?
