Book excerpt: The goal of the 2019 conference on Stochastic Processes and Algebraic Structures held in SPAS2019, Västerås, Sweden, from September 30th to October 2nd 2019 was to showcase the frontiers of research in several important topics of mathematics, mathematical statistics, and its applications. The conference has been organized along the following tracks: 1. Stochastic processes and modern statistical methods in theory and practice, 2. Engineering Mathematics, 3. Algebraic Structures and applications. This book highlights the latest advances in algebraic structures and applications focused on mathematical notions, methods, structures, concepts, problems, algorithms, and computational methods for the natural sciences, engineering, and modern technology. In particular, the book features mathematical methods and models from non-commutative and non-associative algebras and rings associated to generalizations of differential calculus, quantum deformations of algebras, Lie algebras, Lie superalgebras, color Lie algebras, Hom-algebras and their n-ary generalizations, semi-groups and group algebras, non-commutative and non-associative algebras and computational algebra interplay with q-special functions and q-analysis, topology, dynamical systems, representation theory, operator theory and functional analysis, applications of algebraic structures in coding theory, information analysis, geometry and probability theory. The book gathers selected, high-quality contributed chapters from several large research communities working on modern algebraic structures and their applications. The chapters cover both theory and applications, and are illustrated with a wealth of ideas, theorems, notions, proofs, examples, open problems, and results on the interplay of algebraic structures with other parts of Mathematics. The applications help readers grasp the material, and encourage them to develop new mathematical methods and concepts in their future research. Presenting new methods and results, reviews of cutting-edge research, open problems, and directions for future research, will serve as a source of inspiration for a broad range of researchers and students.

Book excerpt: This volume contains the proceedings of a Leiden Workshop on Dynamical Systems and their accompanying Operator Structures which took place at the Lorentz Center in Leiden, The Netherlands, on July 21-25, 2008. These papers offer a panorama of selfadjoint and non-selfadjoint operator algebras associated with both noncommutative and commutative (topological) dynamical systems and related subjects. Papers on general theory, as well as more specialized ones on symbolic dynamics and complex dynamical systems, are included.

Thus, hitherto typical methods of particle physics are adopted by nuclear physics. The authors try to build bridges between both fields and give nuclear physicists a thorough introduction from the fundamentals of particle physics to current research in this field. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Noncommutative algebras, rings and other noncommutative objects, along with their more classical commutative counterparts, have become a key part of modern mathematics, physics and many other fields. The q-deformed Heisenberg algebras defined by deformed Heisenberg canonical commutation relations of quantum mechanics play a distinguished role as important objects in pure mathematics and in many applications in physics. The structure of commuting elements in an algebra is of fundamental importance for its structure and representation theory as well as for its applications. The main objects studied in this monograph are q-deformed Heisenberg algebras — more specifically, commuting elements in q-deformed Heisenberg algebras. In this book the structure of commuting elements in q-deformed Heisenberg algebras is studied in a systematic way. Many new results are presented with complete proofs. Several appendices with some general theory used in other parts of the book include material on the Diamond lemma for ring theory, a theory of degree functions in arbitrary associative algebras, and some basic facts about q-combinatorial functions over an arbitrary field. The bibliography contains, in addition to references on q-deformed Heisenberg algebras, some selected references on related subjects and on existing and potential applications. The book is self-contained, as far as proofs and the background material are concerned. In addition to research and reference purposes, it can be used in a special course or a series of lectures on the subject or as complementary material to a general course on algebra. Specialists as well as doctoral and advanced undergraduate students in mathematics and physics will find this book useful in their research and study.

Book excerpt: Almost 50 years after the proposal of Lee and Young in 1956 to test the hypothesis of parity violation in weak interactions and the subsequent experimental verification of parity violation by C. S. Wu, parity violation has today become a useful property of weak interactions. This is due to the fact that the focus nowadays has changed: parity violation in weak interactions is no more a topic of investigation but is used as a tool in many different fields ranging from nuclear physics to the search for the hidden extra dimensions requested by string theory. For our first workshop which took place June 5-8, 2002, at the Institut fiir Ke- physik of the Johannes Gutenberg-Universitat Mainz, we concentrated on the in vestigation of the strangeness contribution in the nucleon. This book contains the refereed and selected papers of the second workshop "From Parity Violation to Hadron Structure and more (Part II)", which took place June 8-11, in the Labo- toire de Physique Subatomique et de Cosmologie, in Grenoble. These papers appear in EPJAdirect, the electronic-only part of EPJA, and they are accessible without restrictions. They will also appear in printed form and can be ordered through Springer. The excellent presentations show the dramatic and steady progress in the accuracy of measured parity violating asymmetries over the last few years.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present book covers a wide-range of issues from alternative hadron models to their likely implications to New Energy research, including alternative interpretation of low-energy reaction (coldfusion) phenomena. The authors explored some new approaches to describe novel phenomena in particle physics. M Pitkanen introduces his nuclear string hypothesis derived from his Topological Geometrodynamics theory, while E. Goldfain discusses a number of nonlinear dynamics methods, including bifurcation, pattern formation (complex Ginzburg-Landau equation) to describe elementary particle masses. Fu Yuhua discusses a plausible method for prediction of phenomena related to New Energy development.F. Smarandache discusses his unmatter hypothesis, and A. Yefremov et al. discuss Yang-Mills field from Quaternion Space Geometry. Diego Rapoport discusses link between Torsion fields and Hadronic Mechanic.A.H. Phillips discusses semiconductor nanodevices, while V. and A. Boju discuss Digital Discrete and Combinatorial methods and their likely implications to New Energy research. Pavel Pintr et al. describe planetary orbit distance from modified Schrodinger equation, and M. Pereira discusses his new Hypergeometrical description of Standard Model of elementary particles. The present volume will be suitable for researchers interested in New Energy issues, in particular their link with alternative hadron models and interpretation. While some of these discussions may be found a bit too theoretical, our view is that once these phenomena can be put into rigorous theoretical framework, thereafter more 'open-minded' physicists may be more ready to consider these New Energy methods more seriously. Our basic proposition in the present book is that considering these new theoretical insights, one can expect there are new methods to generate New Energy technologies which are clearly within reach of human knowledge in the coming years.
