Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a nutshell, Christianity is one of the greatest if not the greatest hoax ever perpetuated on people in the history of the universe. It is practically all fantasy of one sort of another that millions of people believe in all over the world and have done so for many centuries since Christianity began. It all could have been made up out of whole cloth. The Old Testament cannot be taken at face value as the creation story was most likely borrowed from other sources and adapted to fit with the author’s purpose of explaining how the world began. The Exodus may be entirely fiction and most certainly did not happen the way it is described in the Bible. As far as the New Testament is concerned, it was written decades after the crucifixion of Jesus by people who were not eyewitnesses to the events they described. There may have been a prophet whose teachings drew many followers, but there was certainly no virgin birth, no miracles, and no resurrection. The purpose of all the apocalyptic writing and second coming of Christ may have been motivated by the oppression of the Roman Empire where the Jewish people felt powerless and needed to believe in something that would provide them with a feeling that in the final analysis justice would be done and they would get their revenge. Thus, Christianity needs to be exposed for the fraud that it is which is what this book attempts to do by looking at the history of Christianity, Biblical scholarship, and other aspects of Christianity along with its alternatives.

Book excerpt: An artist who worked across many media, the multi-skilled Gustave Doré remains unequalled as a supremely talented illustrator, whose detailed and imaginative engravings for major works of literature – from Cervantes’s Don Quixote to Dante’s Divine Comedy, and even the Bible – have hugely influenced the way we see many cultural and literary characters and still inspire today (David Beckham has a tattoo on his chest of Doré’s The Agony in the Garden). This sumptuous new introduction to the artist focuses on these illustrations, first introducing you to his life, work and the rich seam of illustration history that he continued and ignited, from Blake and Fuseli to today’s newspaper comics, before presenting a carefully curated thematic selection of his finest and most important engravings. From his vision of Jacob Wrestling with the Angel to Crossing the River Styx, the work of this most prodigious and much borrowed-from artist is represented in glorious full-page reproductions.

His wood and steel engravings illustrated books by Lord Byron, Cervantes, Poe, but he is best known for his Biblical illustrations. It was for these that he became famous in his own lifetime, and for which he reaped the most financial success and acclaim. Moving from Genesis to Revelation, this collection contains scenes from just about every Bible story you can imagine. Being engravings, they are all in black-and-white, and utilize contrasting light to bring forth the focus of the scenes.

Book excerpt: More than 400 restored and enhanced illustrations from the mind of Gustave Doré celebrate the legacy of one of history's greatest artists. Known for his highly detailed wood engravings and gifted sense of composition, Gustave Doré was one of the premier illustrators from the 19th century whose visual style was years ahead of his time. For the first time, a beautifully curated collection of some of his best work from eight influential books is available in one volume. Best of Gustave Doré includes images from: - Dante's Inferno - Milton's Paradise Lost - The History of Don Quixote - Doré's London: A Pilgrimage - Les Contes Drolatiques - Dante's Purgatory and Paradise - Doré's Bible Gallery - Adventures Du Baron De Münchhausen Page after page of Doré illustrations shows why this prolific French prodigy may be history's most versatile artist with an unequaled range and unrestrained ability to convey hope, tragedy, passion, and agony, all with a delightfully macabre sense of humor. Best of Gustave Dore Volume 1 contains some of his biggest, mind-bending pieces in addition to enlarged, re-scanned images of smaller cartoons and sketches from the background details of books like Doré's London and Les Contes Dolatiques. New and old fans alike will find themselves immersed for days soaking in every detail and subtle nuance from his myriad array of masterpieces. - 8 1/2" x 11" printing - Crisp digitally re-scanned and enhanced images - More than 400 illustrations - Display quality cover design - Introduction by Mark Bussler, creator of Dante's Inferno: The Coloring Book and Magnum Skywolf "Born in France in 1832, Doré was considered an artistic genius at an early age who embarked on a lifetime career as a cartoonist, illustrator, painter, sculptor, and caricaturist. Wood engravings became his specialty, and he is widely known today for his illustrations in popular books such as Dante's Inferno, Milton's Paradise Lost, and Doré's London: A Pilgrimage. What makes Doré's artwork unique is his range of talent beyond his skill as a technical illustrator. His mastery of human anatomy and background details is rivaled only by his own abilities to shift subject matters, effortlessly, from angst and pain to comic hilarity. His chilling artwork for Dante's Inferno evokes endless, eternal suffering while his quirky, lighthearted drawings for Les Contes Drolatiques show his good sense of humor and gifted cartooning skills." About the Writer: Mark Bussler is the founder of CGR Publishing, lead-restoration artist, and cover designer. He has written and illustrated more than 100 books, including Dante's Inferno: The Coloring Book, The Ultra Massive Video Game guidebook series, Magnum Skywolf, Ethel the Cyborg Ninja, Robot Kitten Factory, 1939 New York World's Fair: The World of Tomorrow in Photographs and the science fiction space manga, Omega Ronin (2021.) Book excerpt: London in the middle of the 1800s was a subject endlessly sketched by artists, studied by social reformers, and discussed by writers. This comprehensive collection of drawings by Gustave Dor,̌ France's most celebrated graphic artist of the period, presents a panoramic portrait of that engrossing city - from fashionable ladies riding in a sunlit park to ragged wretches in a shadowy side street. Here are amazingly perceptive sketches of workaday London, busy market places, the Christy Minstrels, a waterman's family, thieves gambling, the Devils' Acre in Westminster, flower girls, waifs and strays, a wedding at the Abbey, provincials in search of lodgings, a garden party, prisoners in the Newgate exercise yard, stalls at Covent Garden Opera House, and many other scenes that capture the London of a bygone era.
