Der Mitarbeiter mit seinem Wissen und seinem individuellen Potential rückt mehr und mehr in den Fokus des Personalmanagements. Starke Marken oder die Entwicklung von Innovationen spielen eine große Rolle für den Unternehmenserfolg. Jedoch bilden qualifizierte, motivierte und loyale Mitarbeiter die Grundlage, sich von der immer wachsenden Konkurrenz abzuheben. Die Erkenntnis, dass der Schlüsselfaktor zum wirtschaftlichen Erfolg maßgeblich das Personal darstellt, führt zur Entwicklung neuer Instrumente, die vor allem die Fach- und Führungskräfte sowie Spezialisten motivieren sollen, sich für das jeweilige Unternehmen einzusetzen. Dadurch entsteht auch der sogenannte „War for Talents“. Der Begriff stammt von Steven Hankins, der bereits 1997 im Rahmen einer McKinsey- Studie den Wandel in der Personalwirtschaft untersuchte. Arbeitgeber sollten heutzutage insbesondere die Leitlinien ihres Unternehmens so attraktiv wie nur möglich gestalten, allein die finanzielle Lukrativität reicht vielen Menschen nicht mehr aus. Die Mitarbeiter achten mehr auf eigene Vorstellungen und deren Möglichkeiten der Umsetzung. Insbesondere bei Mitarbeitern, die über spezifisches Wissen hinsichtlich Prozessen und Produkten verfügen, lohnt sich der Aufwand eines zielgerichteten Personalmanagements. Generell fördert ein gutes Arbeitsklima die Produktivität aller Mitarbeiter, daher sollte dies nicht vernachlässigt werden. Ziel dieses Assignments ist es, einen kleinen Überblick über das vielschichtige Thema der „Mitarbeiterbindung“ zu schaffen. Zunächst soll die Definition der Mitarbeiterbindung und deren strategische Bedeutung für Unternehmen und Arbeitnehmer beleuchtet werden. Im Anschluss werden exemplarisch Instrumente der Praxis dargestellt, die eine Mitarbeiterbindung erleichtern und fördern können. Das Fazit bildet eine kritische Betrachtung.

Die Notwendigkeit, dass die Aufmerksamkeit von Unternehmen auf das Verbleiben der Mitarbeiter zu richten ist, steigt stetig an. Infolgedessen ist die Bindung von qualifizierten Mitarbeitern eine der beträchtlichsten Herausforderungen des heutigen Human Ressource Managements. Alle Berechnungsansätze ungewollter Fluktuation zeigen: Es sind erhebliche Fehlinvestments, wenn Mitarbeiter nach nur kurzer Zeit das Unternehmen verlassen. „Je nach Berechnungsansatz und Mitarbeiterebene verursacht jede Neubesetzung einer Stelle zwischen sechs und vierundzwanzig Monatsgehältern an Kosten. Dieses Investment ist wesentlich höher als der Aufwand, einen eingearbeiteten Mitarbeiter zu halten“. Nur allein Arbeitnehmer zu binden verfolgt jedoch nicht das Ziel, nach welchem Betriebe streben. Es bedarf zusätzlich sie zu effektiver und effizienter Leistungserbringung zu motivieren. Um Angestellte langfristig an einem Unternehmen zu beschäftigen und dabei die Leistungsmotivation zu erhöhen, bedarf es Maßnahmen auf emotionaler Basis. Diese verfolgen das Ziel zur freiwilligen Art der Bindung.
