Dabei werden materielle und immaterielle Motivationsinstrumente differenziert behandelt. Der Fokus liegt dabei auf den immateriellen Instrumenten, da sie sehr individuell eingesetzt werden können, mehrdimensional sind und oft unterschätzt werden. In der Vergangenheit wurden die positiven Auswirkungen von Mitarbeitermoti-vation lange Zeit vernachlässigt. Nur langsam, aber kontinuierlich, ist diese Thematik seit den 1960er Jahren zu einem immer bedeutsameren Element der Unternehmensführung in Deutschland gereift. In dieser Phase des Umdenkens sind zahlreiche Management-Theorien, die sich mit Motivation und Arbeitszu-friedenheit befassen, entstanden. Im Verlauf dieser Arbeit wird Aufschluss darüber gegeben, ob und in welchem Zusammenhang die in den 1950er bis 1970er Jahren entstandenen Motivati-onstheorien noch heute Anwendung und Bestätigung finden und wie sich die Ansprüche der Arbeitnehmer im Laufe der letzten Jahre verändert haben. Zufriedenstellende Arbeitsentgelte spielten früher wie heute beim Erreichen einer bestmöglichen Mitarbeiterzufriedenheit mit Hilfe von immateriellen Motiva-tionsinstrumenten eine entscheidende Rolle, dennoch lassen sich qualifizierte und motivierte Mitarbeiter nicht käuflich erwerben, man muss sie gewinnen und immer wieder durch neue Anreize motivieren bzw. motiviert halten. Welche Maßnahmen und Instrumente dabei erfolgreich sein können, soll im Verlauf dieser Arbeit näher beleuchtet werden.

Aus diesem Grund wird im Rahmen dieser Ausarbeitung der Versuch unternommen, unter Einbezug relevanter motivationstheoretischer und verhaltenspsychologischer Ansätze zu untersuchen, inwieweit die Möglichkeit der Mitarbeitermotivierung durch betriebliche Anreizsysteme besteht und wo ihre Grenzen liegen.

Mit dieser Hausarbeit soll auf die Problematik und Schwierigkeit der Motivation eingegangen werden, sowie die Grenzen der Mitarbeitermotivation in Form von Anreizsystemen vorgestellt und analysiert werden.
