It reveals the discovery and exploration of the US. Some interesting topics include The Northmen, Hernando Cortez and the Conquest of Mexico, Columbus and the Discovery of America, and The Story of Acadia. Excerpt: "Many ages ago in North America, there was no spring or summer or autumn, but only winter all the time; there were no forests or fields or flowers, but only ice and snow, which stretched from the Arctic Ocean to Maryland. Sometimes the climate would grow a little warmer, and then the great glaciers would shrink toward the north, and then again it would grow cold, while the ice crept southward; but finally, it became warmer and warmer until all the southern part of the country was quite free from the ice and snow, which could then only be seen, as it is now, in the Polar regions."

Book Synopsis MYTHS AND LEGENDS OF THE SIOUX - 38 Sioux Children's Stories by : Anon E. Mouse
Download or read book MYTHS AND LEGENDS OF THE SIOUX - 38 Sioux Children's Stories written by Anon E. Mouse and published by Abela Publishing Ltd. This book was released on 2014-04-21 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in French, Fairy Tales of the Slav Peasants and Herdsmen features 20 folk tales from the Slavic countries and territories. Very few of the 20 fairy tales included in this volume have been presented before in an English dress; this will doubtless enhance their value in the eyes of the young folk, for whom, principally, they are intended. Herein you will find tales like The Twelve Months - the story of Marouckla, who is set seemingly impossible tasks by her stepmother, but with the help of the Twelve Months overcomes and succeeds. The Lost Child – the story of a childless Noble couple who pray earnestly for a child. Their wish is granted with one condition – that that the child’s feet never touched the earth until it was twelve years old…… Then you have the stories of The Sovereign of the Mineral Kingdom, Ohnivak, Tears of Pearls, Kinkach Martinko and many more. The Slav race is considerably diverse, both genetically and culturally. Famous Slavs in recent times are Pope John Paul II, the first human astronaut Yuri Gagarin, former President of Russia Mikhail Gorbachev and electrician/inventor Nikola Tesla. In earlier times Slavic groups also migrated as far North as Scandinavia, and constituted elements amongst the Vikings; whilst at the other geographic extreme, Slavic mercenaries fighting for the Byzantines and Arabs settled Asia Minor and even as far East as Syria. Fairy Tales of the Slav Peasants and Herdsmen was a French collection of the beloved fairy tales passed from generation to generation, and the stories were collected for preservation by Chodzko. Emily Harding, also known as Emily Harding Andrews, published her English translation in 1896, Harding was an illustrator for the woman’s suffrage movement, and frequent illustrator of children’s books. Fairy Tales of the Slav Peasants and Herdsmen was the first book she had translated and published under her own name. The accompanying 55 illustrations and headpieces speak for themselves, and are what might have been expected from the artist of her calibre. So sit back in a comfy chair with a cup of hot chocolate and enjoy these forgotten tales, lost to Western readers for over 100 years.

This book was released on 2023-08-03 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a way of explaining life to her children and seeing the joy on their faces, LH Miller decided to put some of her stories in a book. She titled her book My Little Red Wagon of Children's Stories. These are stories like "I Saw You Today," where there was a young girl who had a conversation with God about the way she saw His work that day. There is "Cameron Finds a New Friend," about a city boy who moves to the country and finds a friend, a frog he names "Bumpy." "The Circus Comes to Town" is about a child who goes to the circus with her family for the first time and the excitement they experienced. "Exploring Crooks Island" tells of a family vacationing, boarding a pirate's ship, and waking up the next morning on Crooks Island--a pirate's island--where the excitement began. They called it the best vacation ever, with great fun at every turn. This book will keep your child's mind and imagination wondering and wanting more. The author hopes her stories give you the same joy and adventure they gave her family.
