Download or read book Enrique Grau written by Enrique Grau and published by Villegas Asociados. This book was released on 2003 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The name of the painter Enrique Grau is inseparable from the history of art in Colombia. Since his astonishing debut as a prodigy in the early 1940s, Grau has explored virtually every avenue of art: drawing, engraving, collage, silkscreen, woodcuts, painting, sculpture, theatrical costumes and sets, cinema, murals, frescos, and objects. In the course of his long career, Grau has achieved and consolidated a style that is personal and classical at the same time; he is unique in the panorama of Latin American art. This book pays homage to an artist as vital at the age of 83 as he was when the public first brought him acclaim over 60 years ago.

Book excerpt: "In celebration of the 80 anniversary of the National Bank of Chile, the institution published a book that presents a significant part of the painting collection the bank has been acumulating since its creation in 1925. The collection comprises mainly works of the 19th and 20th centuries, coming to a halt in the 1940's, coeval with the Generation of the 40's, represented by the works of Carlos Pedraza, Fernando Morales Jordn who together with others continued the views and techniques of the French impressionists painters. The collection only timidly insinuates the following years with some names such as: Nemesio Antúnez, Roser Bru, Gracia Barrios, Patricia Israel or Mario Toral"--Provided by vendor.

Book excerpt: The exhibition analyses the process through which devotion to the Immaculate conception was created and popularised in early modern Spain. While the Immaculate Conception only became dogma in 1854, as early as 1616 the Spanish Monarchy became a staunch supporter of the theory, turning its defence into a national priority. In the following years, the Immaculate Conception became Spain's most heartfelt devotion and a sign of national identity. Art played an important role in this process, amounting to what we may describe as a marketing campaign. This will be the focus of the Museo de Bellas Artes' forthcoming exhibition, featuring more than 50 paintings, sculptures, prints and books borrowed from notable Spanish museums and churches such as the Museo Nacional de Escultura de Valladolid, the Cathedral of Seville, the Biblioteca Nacional de España, and many others.
