Book Synopsis One Move to Better Golf by : Carl Lohren
Download or read book One Move to Better Golf written by Carl Lohren and published by Echo Point Books & Media, LLC. This book was released on 2022-06-29 with total page 175 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1966, Carl Lohren made a breakthrough, and One Move to Better Golf explains it all. Highly regarded as an instructor and player in the New York Metropolitan PGA Section, Lohren formed his ideal golf swing after years of studying master golfer Ben Hogan. His eyes were opened at the 1964 Carling Open when he watched Hogan select an 8-iron and take a short swing on a 150 yard shot. To Lohren's surprise, Hogan's ball exploded off the clubface and wound up ten feet from the pin! This inspired Lohren to start his swing by turning his left shoulder as Hogan had. Immediately upon doing so, Carl's ball flight took on a different look: it had a piercing trajectory, with plenty of carry and roll. Carl continued to refine his method, so that in 1968, he won the NY State PGA Championship in a playoff over former Ryder Cup player Bill Collins. In One Move to Better Golf, Lohren explains a simple method of starting the golf swing with one move that incorporates the fundamentals. In doing so, he gives you a framework of confidence for your swing. He also provides students with a complete methodology of the physical and mental preparation necessary for effective shotmaking. Whether you are a low or high handicapper, One Move to Better Golf will give you a clear understanding of the total golf swing.

Book Synopsis The Inner Game of Golf by : W Timothy Gallwey
Download or read book The Inner Game of Golf written by W Timothy Gallwey and published by Macmillan. This book was released on 2014-12-01 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every golfer, whether amateur or pro, who has ever picked up a club knows what it's like to get the yips - that feeling when you inexplicably lose control of your shot, and become overwhelmed by self-doubt, tension, fear of failure and anxiety. With a new introduction from golf performance pro Peter Hudson, the multi-million bestselling The Inner Game of Golf resolves this mental interference. It is not a book about how to play golf; it is a book about how to learn golf, and its lessons can be applied to any sport. Putting aside the mechanics of golfing technique and laborious debates about strategy, this classic handbook for golfers of all levels tackles the psychological aspects of the game and reveals how you can perform to your true potential for more than brief moments at a time. Using only his Inner Game principles, without taking a single lesson and playing only once a week, Timothy Gallwey knocked 15 strokes off his game in a year. There is no physical reason why you can't hit perfect drives or sink long putts more consistently. By applying the Inner Game approach to your own game, you too can see phenomenal improvements to your scorecard.
Book Synopsis Golf for Enlightenment by : Deepak Chopra, M.D.
Download or read book Golf for Enlightenment written by Deepak Chopra, M.D. and published by Harmony. This book was released on 2003-03-04 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Deepak Chopra has discovered the delights—and frustrations—of golf, and he is passionate about the game. Confronted by the wild ups and downs of his own play, he consulted with golf professionals and developed a new approach to the game that any golfer can follow—from the novice to the expert. The results can be measured not only in increased enjoyment and skill, but also in greater wisdom about life beyond the 18th hole. Chopra’s own game has improved dramatically since incorporating the elements of his program. Instead of focusing on the mechanics of a “perfect” swing, Chopra reveals how golf can be mastered through mindfulness, a form of awareness that combines sharp focus and relaxation at the same time. Expanded awareness, he tells us, can accomplish much more than external mechanics to improve one’s game. But Golf for Enlightenment is also an engrossing story about Adam, an Everyman who is playing a terrible round of golf when he meets a mysterious young teaching pro named Leela. In seven short but profound lessons detailing spiritual strategies, she teaches Adam the essence of a game that has much to explain about life itself. Chopra has spent the last year taking the unique message in Golf for Enlightenment nationwide, teaching the essential tenets of his program at lectures and seminars to golfers everywhere. His message continues to help players turn an obsession into a positive life path.

Download or read book Match Play written by Jerry Travis and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2004-01-29 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have a quirky multi-millionaire build a quirky golf course in the hills of western Pennsylvania. Then mix in a variety of normal and not-so-normal folks to play golf on that course, and you have the setting for Match Play, a novel about bitter rivalries in golf and romance. Shallow Creek Country Club is a course with several deliberately odd designs by its owner and architect, a man who made enough money in ball-bearings during World War II to indulge his fantasies about a golf course that includes one large sand green in honor of his father's memory, a pipe through a fairway hillside for those who want to play a little putt-putt golf, a green with a huge maple in the middle, and an underground cavern that was originally built as a bomb shelter but later turned into a cool stopping-off spot in the middle of a round. The cavern sits beneath one high hill overlooking most of the holes on the course and has a long tunnel leading back to the clubhouse. The story takes place in the late spring and summer of 1986 and is told from the point of view of a young English teacher and low-handicap golfer named Tom MacKenzie. He is romantically involved with his co-worker-counselor, Pat Thompson, as well as one of his graduating seniors, Amy Forrest, and he's not sure how he should handle the situation. Both Pat and Amy are good golfers, Pat about a twelve handicap and Amy a single-digit and getting better all the while. To further complicate things, Pat Thompson is also involved with Roger Burdis, a newly wealthy Floridian who has inherited money from an aunt and returned to Porter, Pennsylvania, to live. Roger Burdis is a borderline psychotic with an almost instant hatred for Tom, or Mac as all his friends call him. They encounter each other in several matches on the golf course, in a poker game in the club house, and in a variety of social situations, all leading up to one final confrontation on the golf course, but not for a golf match a middle-of-the-night match of wits with lives at stake. The plot includes several dashes of humor, a slice or two of sex, several layers of suspense, and enough golf to satisfy any club golfer in the country. And a conclusion as exciting as any Kentucky Derby photo finish.
