Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As for the universe, some scientists compare it today to a curved sheet or plate. They say the universe has a specific density in the distribution of matter through it. This density makes it more like a slightly curved sheet, which means being flat. Then this universe, at the end of its life, will fold itself as it folds this paper. It will close and return as it began. They call it the theory of the recurring universe, which means that it starts from one point, then expands, then returns and shrinks on itself and returns as it began. Then why do we believe in this speech? Because God almighty says, "The Day when We will fold the heaven like the folding of a [written] sheet for the records. As We began the first creation, We will repeat it. [That is] a promise binding upon Us. Indeed, We will do it." Those who believe in this theory use the word repeat, the same Koranic word used by scholars to express the end of the universe and the re-creation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I am part of a vast ocean of Christians that view the Word of God through a different set of eyes than those of many pastors, professors, and church staff members. I have interest in the deep theology of scripture and recognize my need to be exposed to and covered by the Word of God similar to that of my "called" brothers in Christ. Yet I want it delivered to me in a simple "worker's language." Recent translations have strived toward this end and have made headway. Yet the finished product is still from scholars that often describe the original transcripts from a theological standpoint rather than a worker's standpoint. The Eastern Standard Version (ESV) published in 2001 was written to carefully weigh accuracy against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek scrolls. It stands as one of the better accepted of sound English Bible Translations. Because of its wide acceptance, I have used this translation for my resource. I have certainly considered a host of opinions and writings of a host of scholars but my source of authenticity has always been God's Word. In writing this book, I strongly encourage our religious leaders to go back to the reading, writing, and arithmetic basics of God's Word. Just as I believe, we need to get back to the basics in educating our children in school in reading, writing, and arithmetic, we also need to get back to the reading, writing, and arithmetic basics in educating God's people in church. Perhaps such consideration is "out of touch" with the advanced theology of today. As a layman, not an ordained or seminary graduate, I might be considered a "doctrine dummy." This book, entitled "Doctrine for Dummies" is written for this vast ocean of people. We are not dummy people, but we are somewhat hindered in our study by deep theological doctrine. This book tries to take us back to reading, writing, and arithmetic doctrine.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The traditional doctrine of God's universal causality holds that God directly causes all entities distinct from himself, including all creaturely actions. But can our actions be free in the strong, libertarian sense if they are directly caused by God? W. Matthews Grant argues that free creaturely acts have dual sources, God and the free creaturely agent, and are ultimately up to both in a way that leaves all the standard conditions for libertarian freedom satisfied. Offering a comprehensive alternative to existing approaches for combining theism and libertarian freedom, he proposes new solutions for reconciling libertarian freedom with robust accounts of God's providence, grace, and predestination. He also addresses the problem of moral evil without the commonly employed Free Will Defense. Written for analytic philosophers and theologians, Grant's approach can be characterized as “neo-scholastic” as well as “analytic,” since many of the positions defended are inspired by, consonant with, and develop resources drawn from the scholastic tradition, especially Aquinas.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Church planting is one of the most challenging yet rewarding adventures you can embark on. Often zealous planters and their teams launch their new church prematurely, without taking time to lay a firm foundation for long-term fruitful ministry. Failure to do so often results in a weakened new church, or even the new church closing after a few years. Rather than focusing on methodology, the how to's of church planting, this book gives attention to six foundational concerns wise planters will need to nail down before they ever plant: -Biblical foundations, -Theological foundations, - Ecclesiological foundations, - Missiological foundations, -Spiritual foundations, -Practical foundations. Although helpful for a wide range of planting leaders, this book is particularly written for four specific groups: -those who feel called to plant and are making preparations; -their planting teammates and launch leaders; -those exploring church planting; -those who coach and train church planters. Foundations for Fruitful Church Planting serves as a comprehensive resource that will guide you to think strategically, plan carefully, and prepare thoroughly to birth a healthy, growing, and reproducing congregation. Each chapter includes recommended resources, discussion questions, and follow-through exercises.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Five Foundations of Human Development (FFHD) is a philosophical, religious, and practical discourse on human development based on the following five foundations: Spiritual, Moral, Social, Intellectual, and Physical. The authors proffer that human beings possess the capacity to rise to a higher state of civilization when we allow 'Spiritual Intelligence' to underpin 'human intelligence' as our capable guide. The indomitable spirit within human beings that brought civilization out of the Dark Ages and into an Age of Enlightenment demonstrates our capacity to transcend moral hope and optimism for a better world with peaceful coexistence among individuals, families, and nations. This book will help inform, enlighten, and empower individuals and leaders in such fields as engineering, science, religion, politics, the military, and other great institutions to engender solutions to the myriad of unsolved problems of past centuries, problems of the present, and emerging problems of the future. Problems, such as wars, genocide, greed, and the exploitation of human beings begin within our destructive spiritual nature and manifest in the physical nature. Therefore, solutions also lie in the spiritual realm as a counterbalance to the natural realm of human existence. FFHD is a blueprint for human survival based on adherence to physical laws and spiritual laws that transcend a belief in an omnipotent (all powerful), omnipresent (everywhere) and omniscient (all knowing) being. It will awaken the conscience to comprehend the life-threatening issues that face humankind. The solutions, therefore, cannot merely be left only to the educated elite, the military forces, and those in high public and private office. The global significance of this book is that it informs a more communal view of our world. It is the only perspective that will allow us to enter the global village prepared for the racial, social, cultural, environmental, and economic challenges that lie ahead.
